"Sorry. Sorry. I was just a little caught off guard," he sighed as he wrapped his arms around Neil's chest, only for his paw to feel something odd. The jagged ridges of a rib cage. His eyes widened as he got a better feel of it. Was Neil really that skinny?! He was always on the thinner side, but Dylan never thought he had so little fat on his body that his ribcage was jutting out. He felt Neil tense up and shrink away from Dylan's paw. He stopped feeling his ribcage.
"Why didn't you tell anyone you were this skinny?"
"You'd all worry."
"We'd worry because that's what friends do. You don't deserve to suffer, neil. You deserve as much love and care as you give us. Relationships are give and take, not give and give and keep giving until you physically can't keep giving anymore."
Neil hummed and stuffed his muzzle into Dylan's neck as the cocker spaniel laid back down and began tracing circles in Neil's back, feeling his chest vibrate as he purred. Normally, you'd be happy that a cat was purring so hard that their chest was vibrating, but now that dylan knew how much neil was hanging onto the frays of his life, he couldn't help but worry, since he wasn't even purring hard enough for his chest to vibrate, yet it was. Eventually, the boys had fallen asleep.
georgia POV-
Georgia walked into the house to see her son and his best friend sound asleep on the couch. She put a paw to her chest upon seeing them before noticing something odd; none of their other friends were there, nor were there any signs of a wind storm. her fawning over their wholesome moment turned to worry about why Neil was staying here when there wasn't a storm? she'd have to ask in the morning. she went into her bedroom before getting changed and flopping into her bed, humming herself a tune as she slowly fell asleep. In the morning, she quickly got dressed and went out to make breakfast. She saw Dylan and Neil on the couch, still sleeping away. She smiled at how sweet they were to each other before going into the kitchen to make breakfast. When she got into the swing of working, she heard someone shuffling around in the living room and whispering. She turned around to see Dylan standing in front of her with a worried look on his face.
"Is something wrong, baby?" she asked as she knelt down to his level.
Dylan nodded before ushering his mother closer and whispering in her ear. "Neil told me he doesn't feel safe living with his brother and that he wants to kill himself."
Georgia was shocked to hear that. She's had to treat patients who've had failed suicide attempts in the past, but never did she think any of dylan's friends would consider something that jurassic. Did Neil always feel unsafe with his brother, or is this a more recent occurrence? When did the suicidal thoughts start? She sighed and pet Dylan's head as she rose back up.
"Ok, thank you for telling me. I'll ask him about it later," she smiled before briefly leaning back down to kiss him on the forehead. Dylan hesitantly nodded back before going back into the living room with neil. Georgia quickly finished up breakfast and invited the boys to the table so they could eat. The whole time they were eating, Georgia had her mind mostly focused on Neil, who was blankly picking at his food and staring off into space. She was nothing but worried about him now. Once all of them were done with their food, they put their plates in the dishwasher.
"My brother is expecting me back, i gotta go," Neil signed as he excused himself from the kitchen to start getting his shoes on before Georgia stopped him.
"Hold on a sec, baby, i want to talk to you about something," she knelt down to his level with a gentle smile. He nodded and she took him to her bedroom before shutting the door and sitting down on the floor.
"So dylan told me that you don't feel safe living with your brother and you were thinking of committing suicide, was he being honest?"
Neil nodded.
