a/n- i don't own agggtm. takes place after the events in as good as dead.
ravi singh stood at pippa fitz-amobi's door.
joining him was only the sound of the wind and his heavy breathing. his irregular breathing was too familiar to that gloomy day in april so many years ago. he didn't know what he was doing here, at her door, but he knew he needed to be there.
seconds passed, he wasn't sure how long he'd been there anymore. he lifted his fist, an inch away from the door. it felt like his mind was going a million miles a minute, and his brain wasn't sure if he should knock or leave. but he soon realized where he was.
his love's.
his pip's.
his sarge.
he finally made the decision and gently knocked on the door. long, short, long.
it didn't take pip long to be at the door, opening it. his pip looked as beautiful as ever, with her short hair perfectly curled resting above blue and white thick-striped pajamas- the ones he liked the most.
she smiled as she opened the door, but her enthusiasm quickly faded when she saw the state he was in. as they made eye contact, he couldn't help but fall into her embrace. her small arms quickly wrapped around his neck, her hands naturally finding his soft curls. he was breathing faster now, and he could hardly hear pip's soft voice attempting to soothe him. a repeated "shh" as she stroked his hair lightly.
"i- i didn't know where else to go i-"
"shh i'm here, i'm here."
and with her gentle words, he broke into sobs. he held onto her waist tighter now, head burrowed into her neck.
she slowly cupped his face into her hands and connected their foreheads. he knew why. to take away half of the hurt, half of the sadness.
"let me take it away" she said softly, hands in his hair, stroking his cheek. making sure to rid of the many tears fallen from his brown eyes. he closed his eyes and didn't move a muscle. pip knew how to take this away from him, she had to. no other person in the world knew him like she did.
he doesn't know how long they stayed like that. at least until the tears began to stop. pip grabbed his hand and led him inside, down the hall and into her bedroom. ravi closed the door quietly behind them and pip led him to her bed where they sat.
his face only broke more than the first time as he leaned into her.
"tell me what's wrong, love" pip said.
he took a breath, not lifting his head from her embrace.
"it...it's sal."
she sighed, a frown appearing on her face.
"oh sweet ravi." she said.
they were gentle under these moments, both of them. careful not to close a door too loud or make a movement too suddenly. tiptoeing around common words that could be triggers. each other is what they need in these moments.
for minutes he stayed there, could've been hours. neither of them knew, they weren't counting. pip stroked his hair until he spoke.
"pip?"
"yes ravi?" she breathed.
"sals birthday- its tomorrow."
"i know." she said lightly.
"i thought after all of these years i could look through some of his things, you know? i thought he would want me to be happy while i-i" he trailed off.
"it's hard." she said, knowing exactly what he was thinking.
"it's been six years, pip. six years, my brother has been dead... and it's been fucking hell without him." his voice broke.
"you didn't deserve that. you still don't."
"i pulled out a box with his yale acceptance gift pip," he sat up. "he just wanted to go to yale."
she cupped his face with her hands. "he loved you so much. so much ravi."
ravi's hands found their way onto the sides of her face as well. she leaned forward, closing the distance in between them. like their hands, their lips fit perfectly together as they moved in unison. he needed this- her lips on his. intertwined. he could live like this forever.
ravi broke the kiss and replaced it with a hug.
"thank you, my love." he whispered. she just hugged him tighter.
.
.
.
they held each other until morning. ravi exhausted, pip finally being able to sleep with him by her side.
they stroked each other's faces, taking in every detail. ravi knew her like the back of his hand. how she had three freckles in a line beside her nose. how her nose scrunched every time he kissed it.
"i love you" he breathed.
"i love you too"
ravi's face filled with sincerity.
"sal would've loved you."
pip smiled softly.
"i couldn't do this on my own, you know. no matter how ravishing i actually am." he smiled.
this made her giggle and reach for the side of his face.
"he sent me you, pippa. my sarge, my love, my little one."
