He was making it so easy. He had a routine and did not look over his shoulder. Peter followed him to his school, home, and back to the facility where he dropped something off. He went in and out quickly, he did not meet Y/n. He was getting ready to follow Harley back but decided against it at the last second. He was going back home and they'd already been there. There was nothing to find out now by just following him around. He needed some evidence. Cold hard evidence that Harley was behind all of this. He wouldn't find out by following him to school and his internship and watching him eat macaroni. He wondered if Y/n was still inside having her business meeting with someone. Whoever that may be. "Friday, can you let me inside?"
"Of course, Peter. Miss Stark is in her bedroom." Peter's eyebrows furrowed together. "Her bedroom?"
"Important business, huh?" Yelena sat on Y/n's bed and straightened her pillows. Y/n turned in her chair to look at the blonde woman. "Yeah, I guess so. Sounds like it, doesn't it?"
"He sounds very tense. He needs a vacation."
"If Nick Fury goes on a vacation, it is most likely to outer space. Maybe even another universe. That's the only way you can distract him from his work. Maybe he needs a girlfriend or something." She suggested as she stood up. Has Nick Fury ever been in a relationship with anyone before? "Who would want to date him?" Yelena questioned. "I don't know. Probably someone who's just as tense and focused on their work as he is. Or someone who's the polar opposite."
"Imagine Nick Fury in a relationship with someone who sits on the couch all day watching TV." Yelena and Y/n laughed at the thought. Imagine Fury coming back home and telling some lazy person about his day. Would he talk about work at home? Where does Nick Fury live?
The door burst open causing both women to jump. Peter held the door handle. His cheeks slightly flushed, his breathing heavy, and his eyes wide open. Y/n's mouth opened in shock. She tried to get the words out but she couldn't. "Yelena?" Peter had fallen silent. "You ran away, right?" he asked her. Y/n stood up from her seat. "Peter -" He turned to her. She wasn't sure if he was angry or just surprised. "And you had a meeting? Apparently not. Did you lie to me?" Y/n grabbed his hands. "No, Peter, listen. I also thought I had a meeting. Yelena didn't want to attract any unexpected attention. I didn't want to tell you because... because I didn't want..." Peter frowned again. "And that's why you're lying to me?"
"No, no, I didn't lie. I wanted to tell you. Really, Peter. Yelena-" The blonde woman stood up. "Calm down, little spider. I asked her not to say anything. I don't know who to trust." She lied. Peter seemed to believe her, though.
"What are you doing here?" He asked her. Yelena shot a brief glance at Y/n. She then placed her hand on the girl's shoulder. "It is my sister." She answered. Y/n nodded sadly, playing along. "Pete, do you remember that thing about someone hunting widows?" He nodded in response. "They took Nat. Yelena came back because she was not safe and she didn't know what else to do." Y/n could feel her heart thumping under her arc reactor. It hurt a bit as it tried to stabilize her heartbeats. She tried her best to disguise it. Peter held her hand softly. He did not suspect anything. "Natasha?" Yelena and Y/n both nodded silently. "Did you see who took her?"
"No, she told me to run. I had to come back here. I know that's what she wanted me to do. I tried to get her back but I cannot find her anywhere. I called Y/n to make sure I'd get her here. Alone." Peter looked at his girlfriend. "I'm sorry, Y/n/n." He felt terrible for thinking the worst. Again. Did he not trust Y/n? No, no, he did... right? "Peter, I'm sorry. I knew it was Yelena who called me yesterday. I should have told you. But with Harley..." She paused, "Wait, what are you doing here?" Peter hesitated. He should be honest with her. "I followed him. I know I said I wouldn't. I'm sorry. I wanted to be sure he wasn't hiding anything." To his surprise, Y/n did not get angry with him. She only nodded and stepped closer to him. She wrapped her arms around him and rested her face against his chest. He was a little confused. "Just a little miscommunication between us. We've been through worse." She mumbled to him.
"What do you mean? Do you think she's hiding something?" MJ leaned on the top of the counter. "Yesterday, she got furious because of what happened and today she was so chill about it? And Yelena shows up out of nowhere and asks Y/n to not tell anyone, not even me, about her return." Peter summed it all up. "That does sound a bit suspicious, yeah." MJ agreed, "What are you going to do?" Peter shrugged. "I'm not sure what to do. I don't even know what to think. I trust Y/n-"
"But you've got a gut feeling. If you trust her, you should talk to her about it." She suggested. "And have her defend Harley right in front of me again? Listen, I've already talked to Mister Stark about the whole Keener thing, and he believes me." Peter informed her. Tony has dealt with people like this before. "So, you are not going to talk to your girlfriend about this even if she's almost the center of this whole problem thing you've got going on." Peter only looked at her sheepishly. "You don't think Y/n has anything to do with this? Like even a little?"
"No, she wouldn't pull something like this. Why would she?" MJ shrugged slightly. "Why would anyone? I'm not trying to manipulate you, Peter. Not trying to steal you or anything like that. I think you should consider that Y/n might know more than you think." Peter shook his head sternly. "Don't say that. I trust Y/n. She's got nothing to do with this. Alright? It's Harley. I know it's Keener and I will prove it."
