A/N : I'm back readers!

(I had actually planned to post during the holiday but I went to Vietnam and hardly got the time to touch my computer.)

I skiped a lot of classes due to my terrible mental health, so I had the time to advance this story as well as some others I plan to post in a couple months. For now I'm gonna try to stick to my planning post for this story. Wich is two times a week.

I forgot to mention it in the preface, but this story is closer to it's Alice in Wonderland inspiration than the show or the manga. Some passage are directly from a imaginary retelling of this tale I made for this story. Some games or line may also be taken or heavily inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

About this first chapter :

Like in most of my others story, the first chapter is mostly an introduction to the main character and her environnement. So Borderland start in the next chapter. For the show only, this is set before the first episode.

The dialogue in bold are characters talking in Japanese sign language.

TW : A bit of misogyny ; ableism (?) (It's more like ignorance but it's annoying.)

Once upon a time, in a remote corner of the world, there lived a shadow.

Solitary, without attachment. A dark mass of torment and dread like a storm over the ocean.

Frozen, leaving a trail of frosty tears in its wake on the children's skin.

No one knew where it came from. If it even had a start. Perhaps it was just a constant, like time or change.

It was everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Invisible and untraceable.

However, we knew where it was going. It left invisible but painful marks in souls and hearts.

The shadow wandered for a long time before finding its next prey.

It was a little girl, no taller than a shrub. Her name was Alice.

The shadow took her in its deadly embrace, squeezing her until she lost her breath and the desire to fight for it.

The first week, the shadow was calm. Nobody saw the difference. That Alice was no longer Alice. It is true that she was calmer than usual. But it must have only been a passing mood.

Isn't it?

Over the next week, bite marks began to appear on her legs. Someone had started to notice the presence of the shadow. It was Alice.
