It is the morning after our honeymoon. My heart has never felt so much love for you. The air is cold and I feel it on any bit of my skin it can reach. Birds are tweeting outside. On the cold spring morning who would've guessed it, I'm up first. My night owl is still deep asleep. With her head on my chest and her arm draped over me. She's lying on her tummy, I still never understand how she is comfortable like that. It's nice to feel her skin on mine when it's cool like today. She is keeping me warm, because I was dumb and cheaped out on our blankets when I bought them. Oh well, more reason for me to stay close to her. I'm laying here, smelling her hair. It's always been such a pretty smell. I love her hair. Sometimes it's straight if she straightens it. But if she leaves it then it's wavy and flowy. And if she puts it in a braid the night before, then it has tight little waves that I love to run my fingers through. I'm so glad I married Michaela. Smartest move of my adult life. I look at my hand, the ring on my finger. Right where it should be. I close my eyes as I feel her heart beat and my breath begins to sync with hers. I close my eyes. And begin to think. Thank you God for giving me this wonderful girl. Thank you that she loves me almost as much as I love her. And almost as much as we love food. I hear your tummy let out a little growl. Your breathing picks up a bit and you're hand that was draped over my chest, you move to hold my shoulder.
"Good morning lark" your soft voice is still as pretty when you whisper this morning as when you sing~song~flirtily say my name at night, calling me to bed to hold you before you fall asleep, so we can lay down and talk about nonsense, our nonsense, till one of us falls asleep. One of us being me 80% of the time.
"Good morning my beautiful wife" your smile widens from ear to ear. My voice is slightly raspy but I've never called you that before and it sounds like honey, melting past your ears.
You turn your body away from mine and snuggle your back up close to me. You take my arms and fold them tightly below your chest
"Can we stay like this for ten more minutes lovely?" You say, again in your sweet voice that gets me every single time.
"We can stay here for forever sweetheart"
You let out a soft and quiet mmmm. And we fall back asleep as I run my fingers along your side.
