Leah looked scared momentarily, "We should phase, Jacob. We can't protect ourselves like this," she tried to reason but was brushed off.

Jacob shook his head. "They'll see it as a threat," he said before speaking louder. I want to talk! It would be easier if I could hear you, too."

It was quiet for a moment before the sound of twigs and branches snapping and leaves crunching echoed towards them, and out came Jared, Embry, and Quill. They all looked at Jacob with disgust. Jared spat on the ground before speaking for the group. "This isn't your territory anymore. How's the new family working out?" he asked sarcastically.

Jacob didn't react, not giving him the satisfaction, "You done?" he asked.

Quill couldn't help but ask, "Are you coming home, Jake?" He remained stoic, but you could see hope in his eyes that his friend would return to the Pack.

Jacob shook his head subtly, "Not until I fiPack this," he stated.

Jared looked at him, confused, "What do you mean?" he questioned.

Jacob gestured to the two quileutes behind him, "I want Sam to take back Leah and Seth," he stated causing them to shout in protest.

"What?"

"No way!"

Jacob turned and looked at them over his shoulder, "Be quiet!" he hissed before turning back to face Jared, "I want them safe. And I want this over. I need Sam to wait until Bella's been separated from the problem," he explained.

Jared scoffed, "You mean till she's dead."

"Ease up, Jared," Embry stated.

Jared rolled his eyes, "Then what?" he questioned.

"Tell Sam that when the moment comes, I'll be the one to destroy it," Jacob stated, his jaw clenched in irritation.

Seth couldn't believe what he was hearing, "Jake!" he shouted in shock.

"I'm the only one who can. They trust me," he smirked.

Carlisle, Emmett, and Jasper ran behind the house. They left through the back door and ran as fast as they could. They were rushing through trees and bushes, making too much noise, so much that it attracted two of the wolves that sat upon a cliff overlooking the house; they growled as the sound of footsteps reached their ears. Hurriedly, they shot up and began the chase. Carlisle darted through the dense forest, their movements a blur to any human observer. His blackened eyes scanned the surroundings, ever vigilant.

Emmett ran beside Carlisle; his powerful muscles propelled him forward with effortless speed, each stride a testament to his vampire strength. Emmett's expression was exhilarated, a hint of a playful grin tugging at the corners of his mouth despite the gravity of their situation. Jasper brought up the rear. His experience as a former soldier was evident in his disciplined movements and heightened awareness. Jasper's ability to sense and manipulate emotions added a layer of security to their escape.

Behind them, two Quileute wolves, their massive forms weaving through the underbrush, closed in. Their deep growls and snapping jaws echoed through the forest, a stark reminder of the fragile truce between vampires and werewolves.  As they ran, the trio communicated with subtle gestures and shared glances.

Back at the house, a howl could echo through the forest. Jared looked at his packmates, "You played us?!" He shouted and glared at Jacob, who only smirked in response. The three boys rushed away, determined to help their packmates.

Bella and Marissa were curled up on the couch inside the house just as Rosalie and Alice joined them. Marissa was running her fingers through Bella's hair, trying to distract herself from her husband, putting his life in danger while they were on the best of terms; he was still her husband. Jacob and Edward walked through the doorway. Alice helped Bella stand and walked towards them. "Hey. Are you okay?" Bella asked.
