Nick sat down on the edge of his bed
"Joe... I'm sorry" Nick sighed
"It's okay. I'm used to it" Joe smiled reassuringly
"You shouldn't have to be used to it" Nick said sadly and laced their hands together and silence flooded the room.
"How... What happened with your parents?" Nick questioned, breaking the silence.
"Well... It was a couple of months ago. After months of preparing and backing out. I was finally ready to tell my parents that I was gay" Joe started.
Flashback
"Mummy?" Joe asked. He's always been a mum's boy.
"Yes sweetie?" His mum asked
"Can I talk to you" Joe asked as he sat down
"What's wrong?" She questioned.
He tooked a deep breath. It was now or never.
"I'm gay mummy" Joe said and there was silence.
"YOU'RE GAY?!?!" His father came into the room angrily.
Joe nodded with his head down. Tears threatening to fall.
"I can't believe my son is a FAGGOT" He shouted "get out of my house and never come back!" He yelled.
"But" Joe said
"Get your stuff and get out" he said angrily
Joe went upstairs and grabbed as much as he could fit into his bag and got all of his money he saved up and came downstairs.
Without thinking, he ran into his mum's arms.
"Mummy" Joe choked on a sob.
Seeing her baby boy cry hit her hard and she wrapped her arms around him.
"Clare. He's leaving" he said
"John" Clare said.
John pulled Joe out of his mother's grasp and threw him out of the house and slammed the door.
Joe picked himself up and walked down the path and in the distance, he heard his mother's crying.
Back to reality
"It all happened so fast. I just miss my mummy" Joe said, tears falling down his face
Nick was speechless. All he could do is pull him into a hug.
"I love you" Nick whispered
Joe paused for a moment.
"I love you too" he said
