Chapter 1 ~How it all begins~

Skylar's P.O.V.

     "WOOOOOOO SUMMER!!!" I run through the school yard, I stop and turn around seeing Colton standing in the door of the school "come on Colton!!! I want food!" I yell, he takes his time walking across the school yard. I give up and get in my car, starting it and that's when he knows I'm being serious. He scrambles towards my car and climbs into the passenger seat, I put my car in reverse and pull out of my parking spot.

     I pull onto the highway and we drive towards town, I was taking us to our favorite little diner that we go to all the time. I turn on the radio and 5 seconds of summer plays from the radio and I smirk, I hear Colton groan as my CD plays daylight. I sing along to it, driving down the highway the wind blowing through my hair.

     I catch Colton singing along to my music and I snicker, he glares at me and tells me to never tell anyone about this and I nod laughing. We pull into the diner's parking lot and I roll up the windows to my jeep, I turn off the car and pull the keys out of the ignition. I get out of the car and Colton is already in the diner, I walk to our usual both and sit down.

      Sydney walks over, she was a nice old lady with white hair and a bright smile. She always serves us when we come into the diner. "Welcome back you two. The usual?" she asks us and we both nod "great, I will bring your drinks right away" she says and walks away, I turn and look at Colton and he smiles at me. "How do you think you did on your finals?" he asks and I smirk "good as always" I say with confidents and he scoffs and mumbles "damn smartass" I wasn't actually a nerd, I just actually paid attention in class.

      I snicker and Sydney comes back with the drinks. She sets a Dr. Pepper in front of Colton and a Lime Fanta in front of me, I smile at her "thanks Sydney" I say and she smiles "Your welcome Hun". She walks away after that and me and Colton sip at our drinks.

      Colton suddenly asks me the most random question, and it definitely throws me off guard "do you think you will get a boyfriend any time soon after what happened?.." I stare at the table quietly "it's been two years I think I am ready for a relationship again" I say looking up at him and he smiles "awesome" he says and I smile brighter.

     Now it's not what you think, me and Colton will never get together because one. I have known him since diaper days, we use to take baths together as babies, and our mothers are best friends. Two we could never like each other because how long we have known each other, we are basically brother and sister. And three, Colton has a girlfriend, they have been dating for two years now, and that girl just so happens to be my other best friend, sadly she lives in New York. She moved there about a year ago, her and Colton skype every night.

     Me and her have secretly been planning for her to come down here and stay at my house for a month so her and Colton can finally see each other In person again. She already bought her plane ticket and was supposed to be here in a week. I honestly couldn't wait, and we didn't plan on telling Colton until he came to my house and found her there. She was so excited to see him and honest to god I wanted them to stay together forever because they were perfect for each other.

     I didn't know I had been staring into space until Colton snapped his fingers in my face. I snapped back to reality and looked at him "are you ok sky? You were gone for a while" he asks and I nod "I was just thinking" I say and he nods. Right after I say that Sydney comes over with our food, me and Colton both got cheese burgers. Colton's has pickles, lettuce, and ketchup. Mine has lettuce, pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and bacon. I take a bite of my burger and moan, it was so good. I saw Colton roll his eyes and I giggle.
