chapter thirteen; i think he knows

Start from the beginning

"I think you need to." I prompted him. I watched him intently as his hand rose, brushing a stray piece of hair behind my ear before cupping the side of my face, rubbing a delicate thumb over my cheek. I leaned into his touch, his magnetic force too strong for me to withhold. His eyes flickered between my lips and my eyes.

My heart skipped as I realised the words that were on the tip of his tongue. It's about to happen. It's going to happen. He's finally going to admit -

"You'll never guess what just... oh. Hey, guys." Aryan came running into Walkers room through the door connecting to his. He pulled away from me instantly, reverting to his previous position; laid against his head board, holding his phone. It happened so fast, I felt as though it hadn't happened at all.

But by the look on Aryan's face, he had seen it happened. He had seen all too much.

"Sorry. I can just... I'll come back later." He awkwardly spoke, fiddling with his hands. His gaze averted anywhere but our faces. If he had looked at me, he would've seen my face of overt embarrassment; tinged magenta with wide, ghastly eyes.

"No, Ari. You're fine. What's up?" I shook off the adrenaline coursing through my veins from my previous interaction. It was hard not to be mad at Aryan, because he had interrupted the moment when I could have finally gotten closure - or earth-shatteringly rejected. But it wasn't his fault.  Plus, he was too cute to stay mad at.

Turns out, Aryan came to let Walker know that he had just ran into Malachi and Milo on the way back from a lunch date with Ellie, which as you could imagine, Walker reacted very positively to.

Leaving a very confused Aryan when he removed himself from the room without so much as an excuse.

I brushed it off, saying that he was having a bad day and just needed to cool off. It was then that Aryan discovered that Malachi and I had spent the day together, and he immediately understood the situation.

"Now I know I can't mention Malachi, Charlie or Connor around Walker. Got it." The brunette boy clarified to himself. I furrowed my brow, confused.

"Connor? Why?"

"You mean Connie Baby?" Aryan teased. "Brady informed us of your little crush. Walker thought it was adorable until your interaction with him on live the other night."

I rolled my eyes so far back into my head I didn't think they'd return. "You're joking. We had a 10 word exchange. If that. What's his issue with jealousy?"

Aryan sat down on the bed beside me. "You'll have to ask him. He's been through a lot. He's complex. He has a lot of issues, and I know you do too." I glared at him. "You can deny it all you want, but you're damaged, for lack of better words. And so is he. That's why you're perfect. Your problems align, fitting together like a puzzle. You're the answer to each other's mysteries."

I LET ARYAN return to his angel of a girlfriend after that, retreating back to my room to call the only people I know that could think for me right now.

"Hey, gorgeous!" Ariana exclaimed as soon as she answered the call. "I miss you so much! We're all coming to visit soon."

"Maya!" Xoch squealed, and I blew kisses to her through the phone. One by one, the rest of the girls answered, until the whole group of seven were there.
