{Jennie}

"Enjoy your drink," I gave the customer his order'.

The guy, not really bad looking but not my type, winked at me, "Thanks Beautiful."

At least he got past my weird eyes, too. I am making some progress but for now...

"Jennie," Daniel smirked, leaning against the counter. "It's break time."

I glared at the younger guy, "I can't leave you in charge of the cashier alone."

"And you can't leave Ms. Perfect waiting for you," he smirked.

"I'm not going over there."

"Yet the moment she left, you started making that peppermint mocha."

"I can't leave you alone at the register. I haven't trained you on it yet."

"You taught me the second day I was here," he clicked his tongue. "Leave already."

I did nothing but sigh. I lost this war, but I will definitely get him back for this. I will someday, but for now...

I grabbed the peppermint mocha from the coffee machine and jumped over the counter, carefully so I don't spill her drink.

Lisa was seated at the table close to the window. In her ears, some earphones and in her hand, a pencil scribbling something in a notebook. A government book next to her arm opened to a page with a weird looking graph that made my head hurt just looking at it.

She didn't notice me as I walked up. It wasn't until I slid the mocha in front of her, did she finally snap out of her homework trance.

"Hey," she ripped her earphones out of her ears. "I didn't see you coming, Jennie. Thanks for the mocha by the way."

I took the seat facing her, "You're not allowed to be here, Lisa."

"Why? I didn't do anything wrong."

"Nobody from the school is," I pointed to the sign.

"You work here though."

"I don't count," I watched her take a sip of her drink. "There was a fight here -"

Lisa choked on her drink, "A f-fight?"

"Mm," I nodded. "The captain of the basketball team and the captain of the soccer team got into an all out fist fight over some girl in one of my biology classes."

Lisa's shoulder visibly stiffen for some reason, "Really?"

"Yeah," I continued. "I was hired about a week later so I can't tell you who they were."

Lisa took another sip of her mocha, her lively doe eyes completely lost in a different galaxy. That's weird, what happened to the Lisa who stayed by my side last night; the one that was lively...

"Oh, I'm sorry," I suddenly remembered that the captain is probably a friend of hers. "I-I forgot that you are on the soccer team, and she might be your captain."

The brilliant doe eyes suddenly met mines and held it. The intensity of the eyes almost too overwhelming to say the least. It made me wish I had never said anything to begin with.

It made me wish I never got hit by the soccer ball last night.

"This mocha is so good," she murmured suddenly, under her breath.

I blinked twice.

"This peppermint mocha," she held up the cup. "Is the best thing I have ever had. Well, kimchi still wins but this? I'm afraid to say it's on the same level."

What?

"Sorry," she started scratching the back of her blonde hair sheepishly. "If you don't mind, can we change the subject."

Wow, I didn't mean to offend her that much, "I'm sorry. Y-yeah sure."

"Huh? No, no I didn't mean to be rud-"

"You're fine," I forced a small smile, "I didn't mean to bring up such an uncomfortable conversation."

What if she doesn't want to talk to me anymore? Or ever again?! Way to go Jennie you ruined your first ever friendship... was it even a friendship to begin with. Lisa is a very ethical person. She probably stayed because she felt like it was her obligation because the girl did hit me with a soccer ball. She never had any intention of becoming my friend in the first place.

If that's the case, then why the hell am I still here?

I stood up, pushing the chair back, "I'm sorry but I have to return to work."

"Alrea-"

I cut her off, not even looking her way, "Also, it would be in the Leaf Cafe's best interest if you do not return. W-we don't allow any Seoul University students here."

"Woah, woah, woah!" Lisa frantically got to her feet. "What's wrong? What's the matter?"

I bowed at her not of respect but as a sign of farewell, "Thank you again for everything at the hospital but I really am okay. You can return to your life and I can return to mine."

Her eyes widened at my every word but I can't get sucked into them. Not again...

She's just like everything else. It's only an obligation she interacted with me because she's a virtuous person, not because she wants to.

So, before I could waver any further, I turned my back to Lisa and returned to work.

{Lisa}

Return to my life? What the hell does that mean? I never left it to begin with. All that really happened was I made a new friend that just left?

I'm hella confused.

"Hey klutz," an annoying not needed voice interrupted my confused thoughts completely.

I glared at the guy with black hair, laid back in the coach adjacent from mines. He was reading some weird giant textbook about politics when he spoke.

Jackson Wang, the genius of my squad. The playmaker in everything and the one that has the balls to be dating Tzuyu; one of the most ferocious girls on campus. He's the only one that can balance her out at least.

"What Jackson?" I growled.

"I haven't seen you that miserable since the fight months ago," he barely looked at me. "More girl problems?"

"Not really," well, "Yes. This girl I just met yesterday...well injured."

Jackson's small black pupils widened but I held up a hand, "It was an accident. I was angry at a certain individual and might've kicked the soccer ball a little too hard. It hit her head and gave her a minor concussion."

His eyes twiched but he let me continued, "So I spent the rest of the night at the hospital with her that's all, alright?"

"Okay..." the genius' eyes narrowed. "I don't see an issue behind any of this."

"The issue is-" I stopped myself.

Should I tell him about Jennie? Her job? It would help him understand my issue a little more but some little thing inside me says otherwise.

So I didn't tell him where she worked but I did tell him how she kicked me out of the cafe without giving information away.

The genius sighed, "This is so troublesome to say the least."

"Is your brilliant mind going to help me or not?" I furrowed my brows.

He didn't say anything for a little bit, but he shut his book altogether. His eyes narrowed to no particular spot in the room for about a minute before refocusing altogether, his eyes widening this time around.

"What?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Lisa..." a smirk slowly spread upon Jackson's lips, and I don't like it. "Have you finally moved on from Rosé?"
