*Eren's point of view*

After the awkward situation in the locker room with Jean, we both sat outside the school, not yet ready to walk home.

"So..." I lifted my head to look at Jean, who was sitting next to me. I took a moment to take in all his features. Besides the fact that he looked like a horse, he was good looking. Now, I wasn't one to be a sappy romantic, but I had to admit that he had a great smile, amongst other things.

"So..." I repeated back. Neither one of us knew what to say. We had hated each other since school started, and now we were labled as soulmates. He broke the awkward silence. "Want to come back to my place?" I took a moment before nodding. "Sure."

I pulled out my phone to let my father know, who was currently the only one home. A few seconds later, my phone buzzed. "Okay, stop at home first though."  I told Jean what I was doing, got his address, then headed off to my house, and he went to his. I tried sorting out how I felt while walking home, but didn't get very far.

The door was always unlocked when I got home, so I let myself in. "Dad? I'm home!" I called out. I dropped my book bag from my shoulder and walked to the living room, where he usually was. Not surprisingly, he was there.

"Hey, dad." He turned around, looking at me. "Why were you so late?" he asked. "I was held up at school. But, anyways, I have something to tell you." My father stood up. "What is it?" By then, the glowing in my chest had went away, so the only way my father would know what had happened was me telling him.

"Well, I found my soulmate today," I stated, looking for his reaction. He looked shocked, and then smiled. "Hey, that's great, son! What's her name?" he exclaimed. Now this was going to be the hardpart.

"Heh, that's the thing. My souldmate is kind of... a guy. His name is Jean." I awaited his reaction. Something told me it wasn't going to be pleasent.

"Your soulmate is a guy?" my father asked, taking a few steps toward me. Before I had the chance to say anything, he lunged forward, pinning me against the wall.

"I will not have a faggot living in this household!" he shouted in my face. I didn't do anything, just stared at him with wide eyes. My father had never acted this way before. He slapped me against the face.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?! You homosexual!" This time he kicked me in the groin, and shoved me to the floor. He yelled insult after insult, kicking me over and over. I coughed violently, beginning to cough up blood. "S-stop, dad!" I shouted. he paused momentarily. "Don't call me your father," he said with a look of disgust in his eyes.

He continued to beat me, then stopped. I was curled into a ball on the ground, blood on my face and bruises covering my body. "Disgusting." He walked away, leaving me alone. I leaned against the wall, slowly pushing myself up.

I stumbled through the hallway of my house. I limped out the door, taking my cellphone with me.

---Time Lapse---

It took me about a halfhour to get to Jean's house, instead of 10 like he said it should have. By then I felt like passing out at any moment, and weakly knocked on his door. I heard shuffling, followed by a voice yelling, "I'll get it, I'll get it!" The door opened, revealing Jean.

"Hey, come on..." he stopped. "What the fuck happened to you?!" he shouted. I stumbled forward, falling, but Jean caught me and he carried me inside.

A women appeared in the hallway, probably his mother. "Hi! You must be..." she stopped. Her eyes widened and she gasped. "Oh, dear! I'll go get the first aid kit!" She scurried off.

Jean carried me into one of the rooms, I couldn't tell which, because it was spinning, and set me down on a couch. "Who fucking did this?" he asked. I opened my mouth, faintly getting out, "My father," before passing out.
