Lara walked into the store and went to the slushie machine. She didn't think she would ever get one from a town like this. She wasn't sure that a village like this even had a place that sold slushies. She is not going to complain about that. She didn't know anything about this town other that her grandmother lives there and her parents grew up there. Even then she just leraned all about that within the last few days.

As she is getting a slushie a girl that looked to be her age came next to her also getting a slushie. She didn't noticed her right away. She was in the middle of getting her slushies. Why would she notice anyone that is by her. She is dealing with the most glorious of things.

"Oh. Hi. Nice to meet you. Hope I'm not bugging you," Lara said.

"Of course not. I mean it is slushies after all," the girl said.

"Who can complain about these," Lara said.

"Sorry. I really should introduce myself. My name is Kayleigh."

"Mine's Lara. It's nice to meet you as well."

"I've never seen you before. Did you just move here?" she asked.

"Yeah. I've just moved in with my grandmother,"

"Oh. You're Slyvie Jean's granddaughter. You're the talk of the town."

"Um. Thanks for letting me know."

"Yeah your aunt has been talking all about your family moving back to town."

"I have an aunt?" Lara asked.

"Oh. I won't get into that family drama."

"Thanks I guess."

Lara continued to get her slushie as Kayleigh gets hers as well. She didn't want to spill her slushie all over herself. It would've made her so sad and disappointed in herself. She would've had no one else to blame. Not to mention she would've missed out on all the deliciousness that is her slushie. She wouldn't want to waste such a thing. She would love to have such a delicious thing.

As she is going to check out Kayleigh ran up behind her. Which caught Lara off guard. She wasn't expecting that. She didn't know what to say about that. She pretty much didn't know this girl and she was wanting to hangout with her. It seems like she wants to hangout with her.

"Give me your phone for a second. I'll put my number in your phone."

She took the phone out of Lara's hand. Lara was baffled by what Kayleigh did. Of course she knew that people did this she just never thought that someone would do this. She had to stop every urge to smack her in the face. She didn't want to hit the first friend in this town. As small and dead end as it may be. She is stuck here for the next two years. Might as well have at least one friend here.

"I've put my number in your phone. Now we can talk anytime," Kayleigh said.

"Thanks. I guess we'll talk later."

"Yes we will."

"My mom is waiting I really should get going,"

Lara paid for her slushie and went back to her mom. Her mom was on her phone when she got back into the car. Lara wasn't sure if her mother even noticed that she had gotten back to the car. It didn't look like that to her. It appeared that she was more concerned with what was going on on her phone. She couldn't see her face. She couldn't see what she was doing. She has no idea what is going on.

"Hey mom, I'm back," Lara said.

Her mom didn't say anything. Which surprised Lara. She thought her mom would've said something. Normally she responds when she goes back into the car. What is going on with her? Something must be going on. That would make sense. At least to Lara. She knows her mom really well. She believes she does. She has nothing to believe on the other side. Why would she do something that was completely out of character.

"Um, mom. I'm back."

Her mom still didn't respond. Lara didn't know what to do. She didn't even know what to say. She doesn't know what to do about it. What can she do about her mom. This is not how she normally is. She doesn't just ignore her like this before. She doesn't know what is going on with her mom.

She sat in the passenger seat sipping on her slushie not knowing what to do next. She doesn't know what to do to get her mother's attention to not make her upset like she was earlier. This experience is not what she was wanting or expecting. She wished was at home. Not this place that she has never been to before. Her real home. The one that she was raised in. The one where she knows everything and one. The only place she knows to live in. Now she feels that her parents don't even acknowledge her feelings. It's not like they even care about her and feelings. It's like they don't even matter.

"Oh. Lara. You're back. Hope you weren't here for too long."

"Not really. Only a few minutes."

"Hope your slushie is amazing."

Lara just had her slushie as her mom started to drive. Even though she has never been to this town before today. Even though moving to this small dead end town is the worst thing that has happened to her.

She doesn't know what is going on with her mom. She doesn't ask at least right away since she has her slushie. She can't complain about that.

When Lara's mom went into a parking lot of the local supermarket her cellphone started to go off. When her mom picked up her phone she looked like somebody had just killed her first born child. Which is Lara herself. What could've happened that made her look like that.
