This morning I was sitting at the breakfast table with my parents.
Everything was quiet,
and I stared at my peach jam and buttered toast.
I grabbed it and lifted it,
But just as I was about to take a bite,
my mother put her hand on my shoulder
>How was it in the new school?<
A chill ran down my spine,
I was hoping that this topic wouldn't be brought up,
but I also knew just as much that someone would do it,
and who would have thoughtI could rely on my mother as always,
but my panic was triggered,
of that,
that I hadn't even been to school.
I broke away from my dreamy gaze and looked over at my mother,
but I couldn't return her joyful look.
But I didn't let on that I didn't want to answera silent one:
>Good<
came from my lips,
as if it were true.
But now my gaze also wandered to my father,
He didn't even notice that my mother had said anything at all.
He just looked at his cell phone,
by filling out some spreadsheets for some company,
his fingers glided so easily over his display,
that it almost looked like this as if they were dancing a waltz together.
But now my mother also turned to him and she also noticed that he was so engrossed in his cell phone,
that he didn't even noticethat he spilled his coffee on his documents.
>Hmhm<
he cleared his throat,
as if nothing had happened.
>Excuse me?<
push out my mother
>hmh?<
he looked between her and me,
then he turned back to his cell phone
>It's okay<
he murmured.
I giggled,
but my mother just shook her head.
>For what actually?<
I laughed,
but he just scratched his head in embarrassment,
as he looked around,
what has happened,
he noticed his wet papers,
who gorged themselves on coffee.
When he saw what he had done,
he panickedhe quickly grabbed his things and ran to his office,
which had once been my playroom.
I also grabbed my food and left the kitchen.
With my toast in my mouth,
I entered my room and sat down at my birch wooden chair.
white painted desk.
On it was the latest edition of the newspaper that my mother kept for me,
because I liked the little comics on the last page.
Suspecting it,
I looked at the front page of the newspaper,
where a huge fire could be seen.
I hoped that my mother didn't suddenly become interested in the newspaper,
because,
but if,
I would notice themthat I hadn't been to school.
