The Virus

Part 1. Apocalypse

Introduction:
Characters: Kai (main characters friend), Renee (main characters friend), Tony (main characters older brother), Johnathon (main characters little brother), Jaci (main characters mother),  Axel (main character)

Axels POV:

I'm with everyone. So far, they've all remained safe. We're running through a forest near our houses looking for somewhere safe. You may be wondering how we got in this mess. Recently, there were experiments on human shape-shifting. Something went seriously wrong, and now there's a virus. The symptoms include attitude change, loss of appetite, rotting flesh, disfiguration, and then you become whatever beast it is. Im currently working on a vaccine for it.

3rd person POV:
After what seems like hours of running, the group comes across an abandoned house. Tony  takes a step inside the house, making a loud creak on the steps. He quickly covers his mouth and slows his breathing in a panic. "It's ok to go in."  his voice is quiet and cautious, so as not to make too much noise. One by one, the group climbs up the rope into the treehouse. They find 3 worn down mattresses, a cooler, a very dusty bookshelf, and a hot plate. They all go around the treehouse, finding old toys, dishes, and cans of food, some empty and others full. Once the groups settled, they took seats among the mattresses while some others sat on their sleeping bags that Axel took the liberty of preparing for her family and friends.

Kai sits close to Axel, weilding her knife in case something may happen. Renee sits close, holding on tight to Axel for comfort. Jaci is observing some of the dishes she had found during the search, Tony and Johnathon are on a mattress playing cars with each other to help comfort Johnathon.

"God, it's c-cold." Axels lips are shaking as she speaks harshly. Kai sets down her knife and cuddles up to Axel, Renee does the same after grabbing the large blanket she had packed. The blanket was thick and had heating tin inside, Axel, and Kai had made it for her on her birthday since she complained about having so many blankets and still being cold. It seems to have gotten the job done.

After a while, Axel starts to fall asleep due to the comfort and warmth of her friends and the blanket. Kai stays up and keeps watch while Renee and Axel sleep cuddled close to each other. She breathes a sigh of relief after 2 hours of staying awake for her friends.

She sets down the knife nearby and cuddles up to Axel, covering herself in the blanket and soon falling asleep.

As for Tony, Johnathon, and Jaci, they remained awake talking amongst each other and trying to figure out a remedy for a vaccine until nightfall. Once the sky darkens and the breeze becomes calm, Jaci, the last one to fall asleep, sits down, kissing each of her children's heads as they sleep peacefully bundled up together in a comfortable pile.
