Chapter 1: REUNITED

CHAPTER 1 - REUNITED

Why is he here? I'm not mentally prepared! Seeing him all these years makes me happy, but I'm not sure if he also feels the same way. After all... he was the one who left me first without bidding goodbye. Hindi naman ako galit dahil sa ginawa niya since I'm partly to blame for it.

Zach... Hindi ako makapaniwalang andito siya sa harapan ko. Sometimes, I kept wondering where he is, how he is doing that day, and when I'll be able to meet him. Now that he is just a distance away from me, hindi ko alam kung ano ang gagawin ko. Should I say something to him? Pero ano? Ilang beses kong inasahan ang araw na ito na makita ko siya muli, pero ngayong nasa harapan ko na siya... I don't know what to feel.

Napatingin ang babae sa aking direksyon. "Zachy, what's wrong? Are you perhaps feeling jet-lagged? I knew I shouldn't have forced you to take me to your home country right after your mini concert in Europe."

"Just a little headache." He took a glance at me but immediately looked away as soon as our eyes met. "That's all."

My heart sank by his reaction. Maybe I'm just getting ahead of myself. Dapat kong inaasahan na magiging ganito ang kanyang reaksyon pagkatapos ng lahat. Why did I even expect him to feel joy upon seeing me? But, is it wrong to expect that we feel the same way?

Sinulyapan ko ang babaeng nakahawak sa balikat ni Zach. He seems to be enjoying his life right now compared to when he was with me... yes, I should at least be happy for him. Base sa sinabi ng babae, galing sa concert si Zach. Ibig-sabihin ay natupad niya ang kanyang pangarap na maging musikero. I'm glad that he finally became the person he wanted to be.

Tama... may sarili na kaming buhay. We are not the same as we were six years ago. Our worlds don't revolve with each other anymore, and we achieved the dreams we wanted without each other's company. This just means that we weren't really meant for each other and were fated to go on with our own separate lives.

"Zachy? Do you know that woman?"

Bago paman makasagot si Zach, may humintong kotse sa harapan ko. The car's window pulled down, revealing a familiar smiling face with a hunk of a body. He winked at me saying, "Good to see you, Ira. Hop in! Ihahatid na kita kela Kyla."

"Liam? Why are you here? Hinihintay ko si Dani," I answered without minding the sharp gaze beside me.

Alam kong nakikita ni Liam si Zach pero sinasadya niyang hindi siya pansinin. "Dani called me to pick you up first since her car broke down. She didn't have the time to call you because she called her 'boylet' to help with the car, so I'm here to rescue you."

Liam whispered, "Perhaps, am I interrupting your sweet reunion?"

Inirapan ko siya. "Walang gano'n. Instead of concluding such ridiculous scenes in your mind, why don't you help me with my luggage?"

Ngumisi lang si Liam at tinulungan niya akong ilagay ang mga gamit ko sa likod ng sasakyan. Before I could enter in the passenger's seat, I looked at Zach once again.

Mapait akong napangiti. "It's good to know that you're doing well, Zach."

Hindi ko na hinintay pang makita ang reaksyon niya at umalis na kami ni Liam mula sa airport. Ilang minuto rin ang lumipas bago ako kumalma. Finally, my nerves have calmed down and my heart wasn't beating as fast after seeing Zach.

"What was that all about? Akala ko hindi pa siya uuwi rito sa Pinas right after his concert. Well, that was an unexpected and anticlimactic reunion. Am I right, Ira?"

Napabuntong-hininga ako. "Alam mo na dadating siya? I also didn't expect to meet him that way-not that I care. Ilang taon ko na siyang 'di nakita at nakausap, so what about it? I already repressed the memories we spent together at sigurado akong nakalimutan niya na rin ang pinagdaanan namin noon."
