Interlude- Surrogate

Start from the beginning

I chuckle, my hand going across my hair.

"Deal."

I grunt, biting down on the woman beneath me. Her nails dig into my back. She's feisty. I love that.

"But first."

I pull a gun from my waistband. Firing a single well-placed shot into the geezer who dared speak ill of my mother.

He falls back, clutching his chest. The bullet had slammed into him, exploding into fire, but quickly dispensing.

As I sat in the bed, a cigarette in my mouth, I watched over the woman. Her back to me as she held the cover over her body.

"I can't stay." I say, looking away from her.

"... I know." she says softly.

"..."

"Just please..." she turns to me. Her breast was bare to my sight. "Just for tonight. Make me feel like yours."

I sigh, such a needy woman. A smirk slips onto my face. "Of course." I reached for her face. Pulling in for a kiss as I flicked my cig away.

I opened the door to the room I was in, glancing back at the woman who was sound asleep. Thoughts of staying with her. She was my kind of woman after all. Someone who was independent, strong, strong-willed. Who bit back when she was bit.

The Zenins would eat her alive.

I leave the room. Closing the door with a soft click. I know she was awake. I know she wanted me to stay for her. But I wouldn't be chained down by anyone. Not even her. I barely knew her after all. This was just a transaction.

A kukuru member walked over to me. A briefcase at his side.

"It's done." I say firmly.

He nods. Giving me the case. "The elders will be pleased."

I walk past him, a weight foreign to me. As though I had made a mistake. Why should I care?

I didn't even know her name.

I grunt, my hands griping at my face as I stare at the drink below. I didn't even know her name, yet I was so helplessly enthralled with her.

I saw her from across the street, and I knew when she turned to me, those soft caring eyes baring into my own, that she was the one.

The problem was just following her was a bad idea. Got the attention of the police. And even with a heavenly body like mine wasn't ideal to get that kind of attention.

But I knew the look she gave me. She wanted me to chase. For me to be the wolf and her the doe. She wanted me to go after her.

And god had it fucked me up. I wanted so badly to chase. To get with her.

"I'm hopeless," I grunt. "Looked into her eyes and I..." I didn't even know. I was just so hopeless.

"Yeah?" a soft voice asked beside me.

I turn in surprise. Looking at the woman before me. There she was in all her beauty.

"Who's the lucky lady?" she teases. Winking at me.
