chapter two; the blue

Start from the beginning

"Okay, Maya! if you could follow me, please." She smiled, taking me to the room where everyone else was whisked away to.

i trailed after her, walking into a room to see Walker, in all his glory, a few unfamiliar faces and...

oh
my
god.

Rick Riordan was sitting in a chair at the head of the conference table, grinning ecstatically at me. A bubble of confidence erupted in my chest.

"Here's your scripts. Maya, Walker, if you could stand just here, whenever you're ready you may begin." An older man instructed, passing me a sheet of paper.

Walker came and stood before me, his ocean blue eyes boring into mine. He had always been cute, but he was starting to become seriously handsome.

"I didn't really get the chance to speak with you before. How are you? It's been a while." He addressed me, brushing his blonde curls away from his eyes.

"I'm good. I've been busy filming the marauders, life as Marlene McKinnon is insane, I have to say." I laughed, encouraged by his slightly chuckle.

"I watched the first two seasons. You're incredible. I'll be shocked if you don't get Annabeth." Walker complimented me, and I swear my heart almost stopped. Why do I care so much about what he thinks?

"Thank you, Walker." I shyly smiled, a blush creeping over my cheeks. I silently cursed my face for being so expressive.

There was a beat of silence before Walker initiated the scene. "One of us goes in, the other gets the shield." He spoke, immediately in character.

"I'll do it." I read aloud.

"What? Wait a minute." Walker emotively spoke, looking at me with determination in his eyes. He almost didn't have to look down at his script, since he had most likely read it countless times today.

"Whoever goes in isn't coming out. That seems pretty clear." I found that I didn't even have to fake the desperation in my voice.

"I know, that's why I said wait."

"This isn't the arch, seaweed brain. You're not pushing me out into the stairwell again." My heart skipped a beat at the mention of Annabeth nickname for Percy.

"Yes I am."

"I'm not going to let you this time. It doesn't work that way."

"It's why you're here." Walker finished off the scene, his gaze not wavering from my face. I could feel myself growing hot, so I broke the eye contact. Unfortunately.

"Wonderful. Exactly how I imagined the scene. And your chemistry, oh my lord. It is out of this world." Denise raved, placing her clipboard down.

Rick smiled, cocking his head slightly. "I think we've found our Annabeth." Was all he said.

"Oh my... are you serious? Thank you so much!" I graciously replied, covering my mouth. I didn't think it was possible to be anymore happy, until I felt strong arms wrapped around my torso and a deep whisper in my ear.

"Congrats, wise girl."
