BACKSTORY: josephine grew up in a stable family environment. despite having an absent father, her mom was a great single mother to josephine. when she was around ten years old her mother had gotten married to a man named bill. it was rough at first, but bill tried really hard to be kind and caring towards josie. but around a year into living together, josie had warmed up to him and started to view him as the father she never had. at the two year mark of bill and her mother being married, they ended up having her younger half-brother, joshua. she was absolutely ecstatic to have a younger sibling. she did everything she could do to help her parents out with joshua when he was a baby. however, at around four years old, when josie was sixteen, josh was diagnosed with a mild form of epilepsy. it was really difficult for the entire family, and there was a lot of time and money spent on it all. seeing her brother experience this was heartbreaking, and she decided from then on that her passion would be to find a cure for epilepsy. she always wanted to be a doctor, but this pushed her towards something specific, and something close to her and her family. she decided to major in neuroscience, in hopes to become a pediatric neurologist after all of her schooling is completed.
