"How romantic it must be to be to get imprisoned in a castle and made to squeeze out heirs"

Alerie entered her husband and hers chambers thinking of her talk with her father

"How are you feeling, my love" she asks

"The Gods have punished me for my indulgences"

"At least the wine was good"

"Too good" he confirms

"I was hoping we might discuss something" Alerie asks looking at her husband

"Rhaenyra?" Viserys asks "I do not think she enjoyed Jason Lannister's company, she is cross"

"I warned you that she would be"

"Rhaenyra has come of age she must marry a high lord who will honour her, defend her and serve her as king consort, her wishes in this matter are irrelevant"

"I do believe Rhaenyra will marry, but she must believe it is her choice to do so what's this?" Alerie asks looking at a piece of parchment

"A letter from Vaemond Valyrian"

"The sea snakes brother?" she asks

"Yeah he's fighting in the stepstones, with all the rest of them"

"May I?, Lord Corlys, and Prince Daemon are losing their war" Alerie says reading the letter

"Badly by all accounts" Viserys said beckoning his wife to sit next to him

"This is a plea for aid" Alerie moved sitting next to her husband moving closer to him "why not send them it"

"Because it is a war, started by two malcontents unhappy with decisions I have made if I now provide Daemon and Corlys succour, what will that say of their king?"

"Perhaps, that he is a good man, who loves his brother" Alerie said taking his hand

"Well if you truly believe that my dear then you possess a generous spirit"

"What do you believe my love?" Alerie asked

"That I am forever doomed to anger one person in the pleasing of another"

"Then I pose a simpler question is it better fort he realm that the crab feeder thrives, or is vanquished?" Alerie questioned leaving her husband confused on what to do

-------

After Alerie's talk with Viserys she learnt he was sending Rhaenyra on a tour around Westeros to find her husband she had enjoyed Rhaenyra time away it caused her and Viserys a lot less stress and more time she spent with her children Aegon and her new borns Helaena and Alyssa, But right now Alerie stood next to her husband who sat the iron throne in court not noticing Rhaenyra still wearing the matching necklaces daemon had given them all those years ago.

As the doors opened to the room everyone's heads turned as they saw Prince Daemon Targaryen the kings brother enter the room after years of being away at war with freshly cut hair and a wooden crown on top of his head.

The kings guard pull out their swords as he approached the king viewing him as a threat before he held out his sword

"Add it to the chair" he said dropping it to the ground

"You wear a crown, do you also call yourself a king?" viserys questioned hand on his sword

"Once we smashed the triarchy they named me 'king of the narrow sea' but I know that there is only one true king your grace" Daemon spoke before kneeling making Viserys look towards Alerie receiving a nod from his wife "my crown and the stepstones are yours" he took of his crown

"Where is Lord Corlys?" Viserys asked

"He sailed home to drift mark" daemon told him looking at Alerie

"Who holds to stepstones?"

"The tides, the crabs and the 2000 dead triarchy corsairs staked to sand to warn those who might follow" Daemon told his brother watching him walk towards him before handing him the crown

"Rise" Viserys spoke before engulfing daemon in a hug the crowd of lords and lady's clapping politely "the realm owes you a great debt brother, come" him and Daemon walking out of the thrown room Alerie following closely behind

-------

"No, no, no, no no I will not re-venture this debate" viserys spoke with a laugh "you were always mothers favourite no its no great mystery you were" Rhaenyra walked towards the group smiling politely towards Alerie one she returned. Alicent had moved to Riverrun after being marred to Lord Grover Tully against Alerie's wishes "our mother she had no regard for custom or tradition, rules and I sadly was no great warrior"

"Congratulations on your victory" Alerie said before Rhaenyra could speak

"Thank you, your grace" Daemon said smiling at the girl

"Perhaps Prince Daemon would care for a tour of the gallery?" Alerie questioned "he hasn't yet seen the new tapestries gifted to you by Norvos and Qohor"

"Would you like to see the tapestries" viserys said mockingly making the girl frown at her husbands words "he has no interest in such things"

"I'd like to see them" Rhaenyra said

"Then you should not deprive yourself"

"I shall enjoy them alone" Rhaenyra said to her father before walking off

"More wine" Viserys asked before Alerie followed the young girl sitting next to her on the bench

"I surmise the tour did not go well" Alerie said

"I endured it for as long as I could"

"You had every man in the seven kingdoms fawning over you what a misery" Alerie sarcastically told the girl

"Those men and boys don't fawn over me" Rhaenyra said truthfully "they only want my name and Valyrian blood for their offspring"

"How romantic" Alerie said with a laugh making Rhaenyra smile

"How romantic it must be to be to get imprisoned in a castle and made to squeeze out heirs" Rhaenyra's words made Alerie look down her hands making their way to each other a habit she tried to dispose of "sorry, how angry is he"

"The king went through a great effort to arrange your tour he is frustrated but I am glad you are home, me and Aegon have missed you and Helaena and Alyssa are excited to meet their big sister, I find I have few friends lately I like to believe I am still the lady Alerie but all anyone sees when they look at me now is the queen"

"I've missed you too" Rhaenyra admits
