Fraenaira knew that Dauren wasn't her blood relative, all she knew was that she was adopted by her. It could've been because she was odd looking, why her parents abandoned her. Dauren had always scolded her for thinking such things.
The only person she ever knew was Dauren, and the delivery boy, but she didn't really know him, she only saw him from inside while Dauren went and got the supplies from the cart.
The homestead was a spacious one leveled cottage that supplied warmth and a sense of security from the below level temperatures outside. Maintaining crops were never a problem, they had livestock kept in a barn that was attached to the back of the house by a single door.
She had her own small room next to Dauren's, when night ended she would care for the animals and come back to see her adoptive mother making breakfast, they would eat and then make lunch and dinner so when the time came they wouldn't have to take long to prepare it.
One day while tending the very pregnant mare in the barn, Dauren pulled Fraenaira away, dressed her in her warmest clothes and took her deep into the mountains. Dauren was fast for a 90 year old woman.
A cave appeared in their path, the entrance was big enough to fit 20 of her houses stacked on top. It gradually got smaller, but was still a proud 100 feet wide and 90 feet tall. Near the beginning she began to notice bones, giant and frost covered.
The bones grew larger and more crowded, she saw a giant ribcage, she knew what this was. It was a dragon. Legends of the White dragon were practically Fraenaira's bedtime stories, she fell asleep imagining the mighty Sophrona soar through the sky with her other half, her love. The head itself was massive, about the size of her house.
Dauren introduced her to two white eggs, one was covered in frost and larger than the other which was a solid and smooth white one. She explained show she had visited these eggs since Sophrona passed, when Dauren was only 10.
Dauren said that the eggs were soon to hatch, and should have someone responsible become the new caretaker, Fraenaira scooped up the cold eggs and they walked back home with new responsibilities.
