Hoshila is an Adult Literacy Class and Balwadi teacher in the community of Chiraigaon. Before becoming a teacher, she was studying for her BA degree. Hoshila heard about WLC from a relative and was drawn to the teaching position in her village. She wanted to use her education to help empower women in her community. In 2011, Hoshila participated in and completed teacher training from World Literacy Canada.
Hoshila is glad that she is able to share her education with the women and children in her community. Many of the women in Chiraigaon were unable to read and write before attending the Adult Literacy Classes. However, after attending the classes, not only did they became literate but they also gain the confidence to let their issues be heard by the larger community. Hoshila appreciates the encouragement from World Literacy Canada who have helped instil confidence in the women from the community.
