Jin carefully pried the letter open and with a little bit of hesitance clouding in the back of his mind he decided not to read it until he could compose himself properly.

He stood up and went towards the balcony. The cold night breeze wafted inside his room, along with the bright moonlight that illuminated the whole place. He stood by the railings, overlooking the garden he spends lots of effort to take care of. Spring flowers had withered as winter neared, the garden no longer holds that colorful beauty and for some reason sorrow and worry filled his heart.

"Wherever you are...I hope you're safe" he whispered into the wind, letting it carry his words to wherever his sister may be.

He stayed basking in the moon's radiance for ere long before deciding his mind was no longer in turmoil. He closed the door to his balcony and slowly approached his bed where the letter sits. Jin picked the letter with a frown, eyes studying the words etched onto the paper.

" The search continues, some traces left behind gives us clue that your sister may have escaped instead of getting abducted but it also means empress dowager and her men are out to get her.

We can only hope we find her first before anyone else.

-Empress "

Jin let out a breath of relief. He was glad that his sister wasn't in the hands of the empress dowager yet his worry cannot completely fade.

Where had she gone to hide?

Is she alone?

Is she hurt?

Those questions haunt his mind as he searched for quill and paper to deliver a message back to the empress, thanking their efforts and wishing them goodluck in their search.

Morning came too soon without notice. Jin found himself staring out in the horizon through his balcony again. It was dangerous for him to be seen, even from afar but his mind was once more clouded and in turmoil.

Suddenly, a pair of strong arms wrapped themselves around his waist and pulled him back inside. Jin, flabbergasted with what happened couldn't help but push all his weight back, making him and whoever it was that had him on a tight hold stumble backwards with a loud crash.

"Ow! What is wrong?" Came the emperor's voice, such a good timing because if Xian spoke a little too late Jin's fist would've came flying straight to the emperor's impeccably handsome face.

"What are you doing, pulling me like that?" Jin demanded, waving his hand dismissively at a servant who worriedly checked in on his room.

"I thought you're about to jump out the window" Xian retorted.

"And why would I do that?" Jin snapped, pinning Xian's arms on his side as the latter tried to push him off.

"I thought...well I was worried" Xian softly muttered, eyes gazing at Jin's face as if trying to read him.

"Worry about your missing consort, not me" Jin huffed, finally pulling away from a flustered emperor.

Xian continued to lay sprawled on the floor and Jin raised his brow at his behavior.

"Too comfy you can't get up?" He sarcastically uttered making Xian roll his eyes and pull himself up, patting down the fabric of his robes that was wrinkled.

"I was just surprised by your strength. You're a scholar right, I always thought martial arts was something you never touched in your life"

Jin scoffed.

"You want me to land a punch on your face?"

Xian raised a brow this time.

"Why my face?" he asked.

"Cause it's too handsome it irritates me" Jin blurted out without thinking.

"Is that so?.." Xian smirked hearing the other male's opinion. Jin looked a little taken aback until he realized what he said and red tinted his face.

"It's not like that" he stammered, looking everywhere but Xian's face.

"Then why are you defensive-"

"I am not!" Jin snapped, not letting the emperor finish his words. "You can't just barge in here like you own this place"

Xian couldn't help but chuckle, making Jin look at him in irritation.

"What?"

"I do infact, own this place along with the six palaces" the emperor explain, taking slow small steps towards Jin who once again looked everywhere but him.

How cute. Xian thought.

"No, it's the empress that manages the six palaces" Jin pointed out, looking a little sheepish as he noticed that Xian has entered the range of his personal space.

"That's right. She manages the six palaces, but I still own it" Xian softly murmured, now standing inches away from Jin's face who still refuses to face him.

As the closeness made their chest touch. Jin felt his breath get caught up in his throat as the emperor's hands slowly cupped his chin and forcefully made their eyes interlock.

"Has anyone ever told you you're adorable when you're flustered?" Xian asked, his warm breath fanning Jin's face and it was only then that he noticed how close their proximity is, one wrong move and their lips would touch.

"Of course, people find me to be just as adorable as my sister afterall" Jin mustered up the courage and let out his usual sarcastic remarks but his voice failed him when he felt Xian's lips brush past his.

So close...way too close!

"They're right. You are adorable" Xian breathed out, eyes clouded with a sheen of unfound desire that was slowly sparking fire in his loins.

"Emperor.." Jin felt caged, he wanted to push him away but for some reason he was scared to touch him. As if he knows if he did it would result in something. Something he doesn't wanna think about, but how could he not when...when he can feel something hard pressing against his thighs!

"Xian what are you doing?" Jin steeled his resolve and glared but it only made the emperor desire him even more.

"I want to kiss you"

"Why wou-" before Jin could finish what he wanted to say, the emperor's soft lips already landed on his own.
