Cassandras POV

I sighed in annoyance when I realized that the gun I was using had run out of ammunition. I turned my head the the left to retrieve more bullets when I heard a deep voice call my name from nearby. I turned the other way and took sight of a tall masculine figure, and from seeing his current attire, it was made known to me that he was a guard.

He spoke out, "Don Arivonese has requested your presence in his office. Please follow me, miss."

"Do you have a reason as to why he'd like to see me?" I asked as he turned to lead me.

"No idea, miss."

I nodded to show my understanding. I wondered why he would request to see me  specifically, especially considering the fact that there were more than fifty other recruits he could have called up.

Maybe he noticed you at the fight. My subconscious told me.

Now that I had thought of it, that was the only possible reason. Or maybe he thinks you're hot and wants to fuck you.

I mentally groaned to myself. How could I even think of that. I wouldn't be shocked if that was why either way. Men like him who drowned in riches and resonated power were bound to have women at their feet, ready to worship them like ancient Greek statues. Unfortunately for him, I was not one of them.

The guard and I proceeded toward the staircase leading to his office. He walked up first with me behind him. He knocked on the door and was let in while I stood at the door, waiting for the approval to enter. Wouldn't wanna get killed on my first day of the mission. The guard turned and nodded at my direction letting me know that I could enter and as soon as I did, the door was quietly shut behind me. I lifted my gaze from the ground and straight into the eyes of the jaguar.

Fierce, confident, and fucking hot. I saw his lips move and heard his deep voice that went into my ears and straight to the south.

"Take a seat, miss Lennox."

Matteo's POV

She sat in the seat right in front of me, the only thing separating us was my large office desk. Fuck. I began to imagine her bent over my desk with me fucking her from the back. Merde. I felt myself begin to get hard at just the slight thought of that happening. She looked into my eyes as she waited and I took this as an opportunity to begin the conversation

"I noticed you in the gym. Where did you learn to fight like that?" I asked her suddenly with a needy raspy voice.

"My father." She said with her smooth velvety voice.

"Where did he learn how to fight like that?" I ask know that she was lying. The rport stated that no father was present.

"He was a professional martial artist and kickboxer."

"Oh, really? What was his name?"

"Pete Anderson." I began to feel irritated by her short answers. I desired to hear more of her voice. I looked down in slight annoyance.

"Look," I began, "I know you're lying. I know your father wasn't there. I also know his name was or is not Pete Anderson. Tell the truth."

Or I'll fuck it out of you.

"It's none of your fucking business, okay!"

She stood abruptly and left the room. I rolled my eyes and sighed.

What the fuck is up with her?

Cassandra's POV:

As I left Matteo's office, my thoughts were racing. I couldn't help but feel a strange mixture of emotions. I was used to being in control, especially when it came to my missions, but something about this arrogant Mafia boss had thrown me off balance. He was infuriatingly cocky, yet there was a magnetic pull between us that I couldn't ignore.

The way he questioned me about my fighting skills and the unspoken tension in the room made me realize that I'd have to tread carefully around him. He was undeniably attractive, but I couldn't afford to let my emotions cloud my judgment. I had a job to do, and getting involved with my target would be dangerous.

Walking through the compound, I contemplated my next steps. I knew I had to keep up the facade of being a new recruit while gathering information on Matteo's vulnerabilities. Still, there was something about our encounter that felt like a turning point. I could sense that things were about to get more complicated.

I decided to head to the training area to clear my head and practice my skills. As I worked on my techniques, I couldn't help but reflect on my loneliness within the compound. Making friends had never been a priority during my missions, but the absence of companionship seemed to weigh heavier on me now than ever before.

Matteo's POV:

Watching Cassandra leave my office, I couldn't shake the sense of intrigue that had come over me. I had never encountered someone quite like her before—a skilled fighter and undeniably beautiful, yet guarded and mysterious. The fact that she didn't flinch under my gaze or submit to my authority like everyone else only made her more captivating.

My thoughts were interrupted by Liam entering the room, concern etched on his face. "Boss, is everything alright? You seem distracted."

"I'm fine, Liam," I replied, snapping back to reality. "Just contemplating our new recruit. There's something different about her, and I intend to find out what it is."

Liam nodded, but I could tell he was still curious about my sudden interest in Cassandra. "I'll keep an eye on her as well," he offered.

"Good," I said with a nod. "Now, let's discuss the plans for the upcoming shipment."

As we went over the details, my mind kept drifting back to Cassandra. I couldn't help but feel that she would play a significant role in my life. Her secrets and hidden vulnerabilities only made her more enticing, and I was determined to discover the truth behind those captivating eyes.

After our meeting, I decided to visit the training area to observe Cassandra's skills firsthand. As I watched her practicing alone, it was clear that she was holding back. Her movements were precise and efficient, but I could sense an underlying strength that she was keeping in check.I couldn't help but wonder what secrets Cassandra was hiding and how they might impact her time within the Mafia. One thing was certain—I wouldn't rest until I uncovered the truth and ensured that my organization remained strong and secure.
