Chapter One - Plot Twist

Start from the beginning

It still seemed wild to Hermione that she was married with a baby. So much so that sometimes she had to pinch herself just to make sure she wasn't dreaming. Her little girl, Sienna, was the light of her life. She was fifteen months old with the brightest blue eyes and sweet soft blonde curly hair. Anyone who sees her simply adores her.

Not that many outside their little circle of friends and family did actually see her. Hermione had managed to escape the limelight after the war, turning her back on her "celebrity" status for life away from the cameras, reporters, and papers. She was perfectly happy to stay in her little bubble of security. Which was one of the main reasons she didn't want to go to the reunion. It would mean stepping back into the spotlight. Joining the wizarding world once more as the third member of the Golden Trio. She was well aware of the stories, books, and historical documents written about her, Ronald, and Harry during the war. She knew that Harry and Ron still couldn't venture far without ending up in the headlines, and she knew she made the right choice to run when she did.

But that didn't make it any easier to go back. She had run. Physically ran away one night, only leaving behind letters to both men, informing them of her decision. She didn't mention the reason. She knew it wouldn't matter. The truth would be twisted and warped, and she was well aware that she would be made the bad guy.

And she didn't care. It was worth it for the clean break and the happiness she now had. The strong and perfect marriage she had with her best friend. The adorable little girl they shared and doted on. Her career, which she knew no one expected but it was exactly what she always wanted to do with her life.

Things were pretty great for the little bushy haired bookworm.

"Why doesn't mummy head downstairs and get herself a nice relaxing cup of tea while daddy gets you dressed, Sienna? Sound like a plan?" Hermione smiled as her husband lifted the little girl out of her arms and then kissed her head. She left Sienna giggling at her father as she headed downstairs to the kitchen using her finger to perform wandless magic and set the kettle to boil. It's funny, but Hermione found that she rarely used her wand anymore. The little wooden lifeline she had during her school years was now used only when she was performing a complex spell (or in combat, but thankfully, she hadn't been in since the war).

As the kettle boiled, she set the utensils and stove to cook breakfast for the family as well as cut up fruit for Sienna to snack on while she waited. This had become their daily ritual. Her and her husband got up together, and whichever one wasn't seeing to Sienna would make breakfast, and then all three would eat together before getting ready for the day.

This morning, however, was slightly different to most Friday mornings. For one, neither had to rush off to work. Instead, they were packing Sienna's bag for her to go and visit her grandparents for the weekend. Today and tomorrow, she would be with Hermione's in-laws, and then tomorrow evening to Monday morning, she was going to be with Hermione's parents, William and Monica Granger.

Hermione could hear the babbling as she finished adding milk and sugar to the coffee for him and the tea for her before turning to see her two favourite people enter the kitchen. Straight away, Sienna put her little hands out to her mother. "Traitor," her father moaned as Hermione smiled, putting her hands out, and the child almost leapt out of her fathers arms and into her mothers. "I will remember that next story time."

"Where I am sure he will look into those beautiful eyes and will probably read you an extra story for being so damn cute." She chuckled as she kissed her daughter and set her in her highchair with her bowl of fruit. "Pancakes are on their way."

"Can you blame me for spoiling her? There isn't a cuter baby in the world." He shrugged, lifting both his and his wives' plates and bringing them to the table as Hermione was cutting up freshly made pancakes for Sienna.

"Well, you have me there." Hermione smiled as they began to eat. "What time is your mother coming at?" She rolled her eyes as he husband paled. "Don't worry, I knew you would forget, so I have already spoken to her. I was just confirming the time with you."

"And whatever time you think, I am sure is the right time," he answered, although he sighed in relief as Hermione rolled her eyes.

"I think she said she would be here early enough to give us time to pack and meet up with everyone else." Hermione's mother-in-law was always punctual, and Hermione would actually be glad of the few hours without Sienna to prepare. She loved her daughter more than life itself, but she wanted this weekend to be perfect. That meant she would have to ensure she had her hair done, makeup done, and she had packed plenty of outfit options for the weekend. Doing all that with a baby was not an easy task.

"And Luna said she would be here before everyone else," she said to herself more than to her husband. "We can stress together."

Hermione's husband gave a chuckle. "There's no need to stress. This weekend is meant to be fun."

"You're not seeing your ex-fiance again for the first time in years," Hermione pointed out.

He sighed. "No, I'm not. I see my ex-fiance quite a bit, if you remember? She works for one of my best mates."

Hermione wasn't the only one who had a history. When she first left her old life behind and met her now husband, he was in the middle of a breakup himself. Both had been emotionally damaged and had very public separations. So they had something in common. The only difference is that his ex was someone they saw quite a bit and no animosity towards.

She wasn't so sure with Ron.

"I would rather spend time with her than have to face Ronald. Maybe this weekend wasn't such a good idea. What if we -"

"Nope!" Her husband laughed, putting his hand over her mouth. "I know you are looking forward to seeing the school again and the staff. We haven't had a weekend away since Sienna was born. And I plan to meet a few possible new clients while I am there. We have already RSVP'd, and the gang will be here soon enough. You can't let him ruin your weekend. Just ignore him and whatever thing he has hanging off his arm. He will try and get a rise out of you. Don't give him the satisfaction of letting him think he won."

He was right. She knew he was. When she first got the invite, she was very much looking forward to finally seeing everyone again. She wouldn't let Ron think he got the better of her. She had nothing to hide. She had a much better life now. She was happier than she ever remembered being, and she was proud all she had achieved.

"Anyone home?" A voice rang out, making Hermione smile.

"In here, Luna," she called back as she cleaned the last bits in the kitchen before greeting her friend.

Luna had changed drastically from school. She still had her dainty high-pitched voice, and her hair was still brighter than the sun, but she had grown into such a strong and confident woman. She no longer walked through life in a daydream. She still loved animals, working as a magizoologist, and still had a passion for auras and crystals, but she was no longer naive. Hermione was so proud of the beautiful woman her friend had become.

She walked into the kitchen in her jeans, heels, and cami top. Her hair was fish braided and sat on her shoulder, and her feather earrings were very stylish.

"Morning all," she smiled, heading to the kitchen and kissed Sienna on the forehead. "Hi baby girl." She looked to Hermione. "You all set?"

"She's stressing out," Hermione's husband said, rolling his eyes. "Will you please talk to her?" He turned to Hermione. "I will get Sienna dressed. Did you leave out an outfit for her?"

Hermione nodded. "It's on the dresser. I have her bag all packed and in the lounge for your mother."

Hermione kissed her daughter and then her husband before turning to Luna, who was smiling. "I love seeing you two together. It's so weird to think about the past and how much has changed. Or how much you hated each other back then when he was such a bully to you. Now look at him!"

"You mean the fact that he used to call me a filthy mudblood and wanted me dead?" Hermione chuckled. "Yeah, I have to say Draco Malfoy has changed a lot since school, hasn't he?"

Draco smirked his practical award winning smirk. "I think we all have."
