"Yeah I'm fine! I'll be out in a minute!" Alex shouted back to his mother, looking back to Monique and laughing.

It was tense between them now. They both knew what would have happened, had they not been interrupted. They both felt it, the connection, the feelings, the attraction .

"I-I guess I should...go...go back...d-down-downstairs" He said to her quietly.

"Yeah, I guess you should." She replied, a little breathless.

Monique watched him walk away. She watched him look back at her and hit his leg on the edge of her bed. She watched him nearly fall and when he blushed. She watched as he reached the door and looked back at her again smiling, a tinge of pink still on his cheeks. It was adorable when he blushed.

The morning was warm and bright. It was Monique and Jackie's first day at silver falls high school. They woke that morning to the suns golden rays slipping gently through the windows and the birds chirping joyfully. It was a peaceful morning...until everyone else in the house woke up, moments later, and the circus began.

The Walter family, most of them, had gathered in the kitchen for breakfast. Parker was packing her lunch, Nathan was eating, Alex had his nose in a book, Benny had his head bent over a bowl of cereal, Cole was stood with his hands on the table waiting to leave the house, Lee came rolling through on his skateboard, and as usual no one was really sure what Isaac was doing.

"Lee, I hear that skateboard. Its gonna stay at home...Ride it in school again you'll get a suspension."

Upstairs, Jackie and Monique had started to get ready.

Monique had laid her clothes out, at the end of her bed, the night before. She had picked out checked pale yellow top and a pleated white skirt for her first day. the top had a straight neckline and thick straps that went over her shoulders. She had also decided to wear her bow, putting her hair in the same half up have down style as the day she arrived. paired with white mary jane shoes and shoulder bag in the same colour.

Downstairs the chaos continued, as Katherine attempted to make sure everyone got out of the house on time.

"Why are are you laughing at me?" She asked Alex

"I'm not." He lied, whilst hiding his face behind his book so that his mom couldn't see that he in  fact, was laughing at her.

"You're gonna have to rewrite that history paper on modern warfare, okay" she told him. "it turns out- one second please."

Monique sat at the vanity she shared with Jackie, lightly curling the ends of her hair.

"So, Jacks, how do think today is gonna go?" She asked her sister, who was still getting changed.

"I think today will go fine, so don't worry about it." she said trying to reassure her sister.

As it turns out, Monique, who was now powdering her face with blush, thought the same thing. Actual, she thought the day was gonna go great.

"Oh, I'm not worrying. I think today is going to be amazing. We are gonna meet so many new nice people." Monique replied, putting her things back into their rightful places, grabbing her already packed school bag. "Maybe I should be telling you not to worry. So I will. Don't worry Jackie, today will be great." She said with a smile.

After Jackie had changed they both headed down stairs.

"Don't mess with those, they're for the girls!" Katherine yelled as she she walked out of the kitchen. "Ah, good morning girls. How'd you both sleep."

"Fine." The older Howard sister told her.

"Good." Monique said, smiling at Alex as he went past. She was pretty sure Katherine saw it from the way she quickly looked behind her, only to see her son passing by also smiling, and now blushing.

"Good. So, listen. I left you breakfast right there. And the boys are gonna take you to school, and I'm gonna see you two later. I can't wait to here all about your day. All right? Good luck." Mrs Walter said in one breathe, at record speed. "Jordan, Come on." she shouted, throwing a red backpack for the boy to catch, before rushing out the front door as well.

Monique didn't really eat breakfast, and felt bad for leaving it there, but she would also rather not be late on her first day so she decided against eating it and walked towards the door, followed by Jackie who had probably had the same idea and grabbed an apple instead.

When they reached the front door, Her older sister bolted past her, running down the porch steps to catch up with the Walter boys and their cousins, who were putting their backpacks and in Lee's case also his skateboard (much to Katherine's displeasure) in  the truck of the car. Monique however, regretted saying   she wasn't worried because well...now she was. Before she knew it everyone was already in the car and waiting for her. She took a deep breathe before walking towards the car.
