Chapter Two:

*Kira's Point Of View*

"Kira! It's 5:30! Time to get up and get ready to go!" I heard my mother yell as my lights were turned on.

"5:30? Please tell me it's 5:30 in the evening." I groaned, literally rolling out of bed.

"No, 5:30 in the morning. And, are you okay, Kira? You just fell off the bed." Mom said and I sighed.

"I'm fine, Catherine Oblivious." I staggered with my face squished against my dark red carpet, making my words sound different.

"Catherine Oblivious? What?" Mom said and I laughed softly as I rolled onto my back.

"I said I'm fine, captain obvious." I cleared up the sentence as I got up off the floor.

"Okay, okay. Well, get ready to go. We need to hit the road in a few minutes." Mom said as she walked out of my bedroom and shut the door behind her.

I quickly put on a dark blue fringe top with a black mini skirt and black boots, and put on some makeup and fixed my hair.

"KIRA! HURRY UP!" Brent screamed and I sighed as I grabbed my bags and rushed out of my bedroom and we both raced out the door and to the minivan.

"SHOTGUN!" Brent yelled and got in the front seat, looking at me as he stuck out his tongue.

I sighed and threw my stuff in the back of the van before sitting in the backseat, pulling out my iPod and plugging in my headphones, and listened to music.

After a few hours of driving, mom announced that we were going to stop in Texas and stay a few days because she has a great friend who lives there.

"Ma, when are we going to get there?" Brent whined.

"We're almost there. Anne's house is right here." Mom said as she parked in front of a house.

"Is this seriously where we came for vacation?" I said and mom shook her head.

"No. This isn't our final destination. We just came to see Anne and her son for a few days, then we'll get back on the road." Mom explained as we got our stuff out of the car and entered the house.

"Hey, Beatrice!" The lady said and hugged my mother after mom set her stuff down.

The lady didn't sound like she was originally from Texas, in fact she sounds like she used to live in a different country, but gained the American accent after living here a while.

"And this must be Kira?" The lady said and walked to me, wrapping me in a hug. I gave mom a weird look and awkwardly hugged the lady back before quickly pulling away.

"Ashton won't be back until late tonight, he's working. So, let me show you where you will be sleeping in. Beatrice, you will sleep in that room, Brent you can sleep with your mother." She said, showing them a room, then looked back at me.

"Oh my gosh, your mother said you probably wouldn't come, so I didn't really prepare a room for you. You can sleep in Ashton's room, if that's okay?" She said.

No. No, no. That's so not okay. "Sure. That'll be fine."

"Great. His room is in there." She led me to the room and I looked at his walls. Hmm, interesting.

"Supper will be ready in a couple of hours. Feel free to wander around a bit."

I sighed and set my stuff in a corner of the room, then walked into the bathroom to look in the mirror. My hair was a mess from falling asleep in the car, my makeup just didn't look great, and my outfit was an absolute mess.

"Ugh. Won't work." I muttered before walking to my bag and quickly changed into a different outfit and fixed my hair but didn't worry about my makeup.

"Kira, what are you up to?" My mom asked as she entered the room that I was in.

"Literally nothing." I said and she smiled.

"Anne said that you could go for a walk if you want to." Mom said.

I let out a sigh and stood up, putting on shoes.

"Do I have to take Brent with me?" I questioned.

"No."

"Good." I ran out the door and out of the house, and began walking.

As I continued to walk, I could see someone up ahead. The guy was wearing boots and a cowboy hat. Of course. This is Texas. There is obviously a cowboy.

"Hey, cowboy." I said as I reached the guy and came up behind him.

"Hey," he said in an Australian accent, then turned around. ".. Blondie?" He continued, not knowing what exactly to call me.

"Whoa, wait.. You are.."

"Australian? I know." He said with a smirk.

"But you're also.."

"A riding instructor."

"A what?" I said.

"A riding instructor. I give horseback riding lessons." He explained.

"Ohh, okay. And how much do these lessons cost?" I questioned. I've never been into horseback riding, but right now it's better than being in that house.

"For you, they're free." He said.

"Really? So, what's your name, cowboy?" I questioned.

"Ashton. Yours, blondie?" He said.

"Kira. And, I'm not naturally blonde. See, my hair is dark, and only the ends are blonde."

"Okay, I'm still calling you blondie." Ashton said as he led me to the stables.

"Fine. I'm calling you my Australian Cowboy." I said as he helped me onto the horse.

"Your Australian Cowboy?" He said with a smirk.

"Hm, yeah. Sure." I said with a slight laugh.

"Is that your way of asking me out?" He questioned.

"Well, normally the guy asks the girl out, but I'm not into that, when I see something I want, I go for it. So, yes. I am asking you out." I said and he smiled wide.

A few hours later, I had learned how to ride the horse, and I was pretty good at it without guidance, so Ashton and I decided to go for a ride.
