It was still his domain, after all. A temple of the Crown Prince, built in his name! He wasn't about to let people die of the Human Face Disease inside it.

Ignoring everyone's questions and words, Xie Lian left out and swung the branch with deadly precision. In a matter of seconds all the victims of the disease fell on the ground, and sure enough none of the infected could get close. The crowd cheered when the man won, hollering to thank the heavens, which only aggravated Xie Lian. Thanking the heavens in front of him, who had been wronged by them... it was entirely too painful to bear. But mortals were mortals, and they found solace in the comfort of the gods, so it wasn't exactly something Xie Lian was willing to complain about.

At that moment, from within the woods came many ghost fires, drifting and dancing madly all over. Xie Lian didn't know if they were helping in driving away the victims, but they weren't obstructing him so he didn't care about them all that much. The next second, he saw a white-clad figure waving, beckoning him.

It took half a second for Xie Lian to react, blood still boiling for the battle, and he instantly gave chase: «Don't even think about escaping!», he shouted at the top of his lungs, charging forwards as a swarm of ghost fires zoomed over and followed.

Naturally, Bai WuXiang wasn't going to escape, so he strolled with languid steps, always ahead by seven to eight feet. What reason had the monster to escape, after all? He was the one who lured them all, he had nothing to fear.

Because of that, Xie Lian stopped his pursue and he instantly turned back, giving up on the chase.

«Why aren't you following me?».

«You just want to lead me away to spread the Human Face Disease», Xie Lian looked back. «Why would I follow you? To let you have your way?».

Bai WuXiang only smiled behind his mask: «Oh, my objective isn't to lead you away», he said, the smile clear in his tone even under the cry-smiling cover. «My objective is only you».

After thinking about it for a second, Xie Lian realized it indeed made no sense to move him away. If Bai WuXiang wanted to spread the Human Face Disease again, he could have done so anywhere in the world, far from where Xie Lian could help and stop him. So why doing so in the middle of a forest, deep between mountains with very few settlements?

Xie Lian stopped in his tracks: «What are you planning?». He had already asked that same question too many times. Despite his endurance, the former god was starting to finally lose his patience.

«I've already told you», Bai WuXiang simply replied, as if it was the most normal conversation he ever had. «I want you to come to my side».

In response, Xie Lian pulled out his tree branch and pointed it at him like a sword. Thankfully, a particularly bright ball of ghost fire landed on the tip of the branch, helping to make it look less ridiculous.

«What do you want with me on your side?», he demanded sharply, patience thinning minute by minute. «You want me to take your life once and for all?».

Bai WuXiang only chuckled: «Your Highness, you are a beautiful block of unrefined jade», he said, his tone warm. «Allow me to educate you».

At that, Xie Lian felt speechless and furious all at once, but couldn't help clicking his tongue in incredulity: «You think yourself worthy of educating me? My master is the Guoshi of XianLe, what are you? You monster!».

It sounded preposterous, that a demon like him though himself worthy of teaching anything to Xie Lian. He'd had the best educator of the kingdom to guide and teach him, he didn't need to be ridiculed by a monster.
