After the fall of Jun Wu, Heaven is rebuilt, Hua Cheng returns to Xie Lian, and for the first time in centuries, Feng Xin and Mu Qing find themselves on something resembling friendly terms.
Or, at least, that's what they tell themselves.
Between rebuilding the Heavenly Court, answering ridiculous requests from their worshippers, getting sent on increasingly bizarre missions, and occasionally finding themselves on the same path to visit Xie Lian, the two slowly fall into a new kind of companionship.
Then a mission involving a rather unfortunate encounter with some enchanted flowers forces them to confront a few things they'd much rather ignore.
They recover. They move on. Everything goes back to normal.
Mostly.
Until the Mid-Autumn Festival, when a single lantern changes the results of the competition between them, and neither of them realizes why.
They've survived gods, ghosts, war, and the end of the world. Surely falling in love can't be that difficult.
A post-canon FengQing slow burn about old grudges left behind, new routines, terrible timing, mutual obliviousness, and all the things neither Feng Xin nor Mu Qing is quite ready to say out loud.
