"Hi."
"Hello."
"Honey, I have to go to the clinic. So can you just take over and get the girls settled in? They've already met, um...Danny, Isaac, Alex, and um..."
"Benny." Jackie said. She looked over at Monique, who had gone quite once again.
She was daydreaming. About Alex. She didn't know what it was about him that made her feel this way. Maybe it was they way he looked at her, maybe it was how his freckles looked like constellations perfectly placed on his cheeks, or his smile, or his eyes. she couldn't pin point it. she could not stop thinking about him.
"I cannot believe I am getting called in right now." Mrs Walter sighs "Okay, so-"
"What? You have to leave?" George said as he walked in.
"Yes. But Will's gonna take over"
"Great."
"Girls, girls I am so sorry. I promise I will be back as soon as I possibly can." Katherine said to them, sincerely.
"Don't worry."
"I hope the dog's okay." Monique replied
"Thank you." The ginger woman added before she grabbed her bag and rushed out the door.
"See ya...And, hey, girls, I am always around here somewhere. If either of you need anything call me, okay? I gotta get out to the orchard." The older man declared.
Monique hadn't heard much about the Walter family orchard, the most she knew is that there was one, and it was big from what she'd seen on the way to the house.
"Uncle George, wait for me." The boy on the skateboard, the one from earlier, insisted. He went rolling past them (for a second time that day) through a brown door with glass panel, with sheer white curtains draped over them, and George closed it behind them.
"So, the Tony Hawk wannabe is Lee." Will laughed airily.
"we've met." Jackie scoffed, still a bit bitter from there first encounter.
Will lead the two girls upstairs and into a bedroom. It had two beds in it, two windows both with the same navy blue drapes, and there were posters on the walls. On the bedside table next to the bed furthest from them the lamp was on, and the window above it was slightly ajar. There was also a book on the bed, though she couldn't recognise it from where she stood. On one side of the room there was shelf filled with vinyls, and on top of it was a CD and record player. On the other side of the room was a gaming set up on a desk.
"Nathan." Will said as he knocked on the door.
The boy sat on the floor inside, Nathan, was strumming a guitar, the case open beside him. When he saw Will he got up and walked towards them, his guitar still in hand.
"This is Jackie, and this is Monique."
"Hi. It's nice to finally meet you both."
"Thanks. You too." Jackie replied first.
"It's nice to meet you too, Nathan." Monique spoke next.
"Come on." Will called to them walking out of the door. He brought them back downstairs and out of the back door. "Just so you know, I'm hard of hearing, so if I'm not looking at you or there's a lot of background noise, I won't understand. Just FYI."
"Okay, thank you." The youngest girl responded.
Will had taken them to the pool area they had seen earlier. There was three kids near the pool, two of them (a girl with blonde hair bunched into a ponytail and the little boy who had ran past them when they arrived...before she met Alex) were play fighting with wooden swords. The third boy, who had dark hair and a film camera, was videoing them, as music played in the background.
"Yeah. Keep the energy in it. Keep the energy." The boy with the camera said.
"My shoe!" The girl came out with.
"Hey! Everyone, this is Jackie and Monique." Will shouted across the pool as he turned of the music.
"Hello." Jackie greets them, as Monique waves.
"Hey." The girl replied, waving to the younger Howard girl.
"Oh, yes!" The dark haired boy said whilst pointing the lens in their direction.
"That's Parker over there," Will stated, pointing at her, "and that's Benny." referring to the young boy. As he was talking a guy with soaking blonde hair and no shirt rose from the pool. He shook his head, flicking his hair around, droplets flying through the air. For what reason, Monique didn't know. She looked over at Jackie who looked entranced by the sight. She could see why, he had a very nice body and he knew. Normally she would have found that quite attractive, but something put her off. And she found out what it was really fast. His attitude.
He got out of the pool, walked over to a sunbed that had a towel on,and dropped himself onto it. The blonde ran a hand over his wet hair, slicking it back, showing a rather toned arm in the process, the sun shining down on his bare chest and defined abs.
"Wanna introduce yourselves?" Will yelled to the group.
"They'll figure it out." He chuckled to himself and smirked. There it was...The attitude.
"That's Cole." Will barely managed to get out before the boy with the film camera came racing towards them, circling them, video equipment shoved directly at them.
"Hello..." Monique said, slightly confused.
"Jordan, aspiring film director. Leave them alone, Jordan. Come on." Will waved him away, and he sped off back to Benny and Parker. It was then that a mid-sized dog with dark fur and brown paws, climbed out of the pool.
"Albert! No!" The oldest Walter boy exclaimed as the dog shook its fur, spraying water all over the two Howard girls. Even whilst being covered in water (and being filmed by Jordan) Monique managed to amuse herself, as she thought about how the dog, Albert, had looked a lot like Cole did getting out of the water.
"I am so sorry." He sympathized, handing them both a towel.
"It's okay...We're fine." The older girl sighed.
"You know what? Come on. I'll show you to your room upstairs."
Will ushered them towards the porch, calling out to Cole.
"Hey start bringing the girls stuff upstairs. Okay?" Will told him. "Cole!" He said when he didnt get a response.
"I heard you." The boy replied. There it was...The attitude again.
