"Over here." The man Katherine had arrived with said. The woman scoffed amusedly, before turning to the man with a chuckle.

"Thank you. You girls remember George."

"Hi, George." This time it was Monique who spoke for the two.

"Hi girls."

"How was everything? Was your flight okay?" Mrs Walter asked as they walked among people, some pulling suit cases, others holding paper takeaway cups, to exit the airport. "Do you need anything before we go? Something to eat or a coffee?"

"I'm okay."

"Same here."

The Howard girls sat beside each other in a vintage looking car. It was blue with a brown stripe around the middle. Monique thought it to be an abnormally long car. There was at least another two rows of seats behind her. Why would the Walters need this much space? She assumed they had some kids,  but she didn't think they would have this many. It must be really crowded in here when its full, she thought.

as they drove along extensive country roads Monique placed in her headphones on her head. She preferred this type. They managed to block out the rest of the world better, something she had learnt quickly after the loss of her parents and oldest sister.

As her music blasted through the speakers held against her ears, the car drove, turned, and drove some more.

They had been driving for a while before they got to a long stretch of straight road. From there she could see what she assumed was the Walters ranch style house. Their new home...For a while. As the reached the end turning a corner, both Jackie and Monique got a good look at the place. It was a nice shade of pale yellow, had a grey roof slightly faded from exposure, and a wrap around porch, with rails the same colour of white that bordered the windows. At the back of the house a brown fence had been built, enclosing an above ground pool. She noticed empty pens, patches of grass that were more yellow and flatter than others. Especially near the pens. As they got closer to the front of the house she counted three bikes, almost confirming her suspicions that there was more than just a few Walters. As the car pulled to a stop in front of the home, she gathered her belongings.

"Honey, do you need any help with the bags?" Katherine asked her husband.

"No, no." he replied.

Monique suspected he was lying as her and Jackie hadn't packed lightly considering they had brought every item of clothing the both owned, plus she had see him struggling to push both carts in the airport. but before she could voice this thought, she was already being pulled out of the car by Jackie as George held the door open.

"Thanks."

"Thank you."

Monique and Jackie stood in front of the beautiful home. Looking at it now, it was a very nice place. Welcoming.

"You girls okay?" the ginger woman asked.

"Fine." Jackie said with a smile.

"Monique?" Katherine questioned.

it appears that once again Monique had begun staring into space, as usual. Lost in thought.
