" I—uh, it's a surprise," he stuttered. Truthfully? He had no idea. He would just make it up along the way.

"Just...wear something red," he decided, knowing that's what she looked best in. "I'll see you later?"

Sophie smiled and gave him a small nod. Keefe went back to the Leapmaster and leaped to the Shores of Solace.

*~*~*

The mother-of-pearl walls of the beach house shimmered in the late afternoon sun as Keefe glittered to one of his father's getaway houses. He headed to his room, throwing his satchel onto his floor messily and lying down on the bed. He then picked up his Imparter and hailed Fitz.

"What now?" Fitz asked, cringing. Almost as if he was expecting something to be wrong—preparing for the worst. Of course, everything was fine! Why wouldn't it be? Keefe had absolutely no reason to hail his friend other than pure impulse. It had nothing to do with how he had no idea what to wear to the date.

Nope. Nothing to do with that.

Keefe blinked and smirked. "Well, hello to you too! I'm doing well, thank you for asking," he said.

Fitz rolled his eyes. "Keefe, we literally saw each other in school a few minutes ago." Keefe sighed dramatically and simply asked him to come over.

Several agonizingly slow minutes later, Fitz strutted in. Okay, maybe he didn't strut but—doesn't matter. Fitz plopped onto his desk chair and wrinkled his nose at the mess on the floor. Keefe smirked.

"Annoying your father must be a lot of fun," he noted, eyeing the mess. Keefe nodded and then proceeded to explain exactly why Fitz was called over.

"Let me get this straight. Lord Hunkyhair doesn't know what to wear to a date?" Fitz asked, clearly holding back his laughter.

Keefe huffed. "How many times do I need to say this? YES!"

Fitz burst out laughing. "I'm telling Sophie." He wheezed in between laughing. Keefe whacked him on the head and tackled him.

"You will do no such thing. You hear me?" Keefe demanded. Fitz nodded, still laughing, and stood up to massage his shoulders.

"Ow, Keefe. You didn't need to pin me so hard," he groaned.

Keefe shrugged. "That's what happens when you threaten me."

"It wasn't a threat, it was a joke!" Fitz glared at him.

Keefe glared back. Both laughed softly.

"Whatever—let's just get to work," Keefe decided.

They were at it for half an hour before finally finding the perfect outfit. A crimson tunic with dark blue pants. Fitz handed him a maroon cape with white lining and Keefe decided to take it. For Sophie, if she was cold.

"You're a lifesaver, Fitz," Keefe praised him. "Thanks."

"No problem—now go get your girl," Fitz said, shooing him away.

"Actually I still have a long time before they'll be ready—" he started, but Fitz had been able to grab his arm and run with him to the Leapmaster, shouting out "Havenfield!" before Keefe could even process what was happening.

*~*~*

Both of them tumbled onto the pastures, Keefe landing on top of Fitz, saving his clothes from getting dirty. Fitz groaned.

"You're not exactly light, Keefe. Mind getting off?" he asked.

"Actually, I do mind, Fitz—but because I'm nice, I'll get off," Keefe decided, rolling off Fitz. He held out his hand and pulled Fitz to his feet.
