'I couldn't possibly', Annabelle screamed. She lifted her hands up and dropped them. Her fingers gathered her frock and she walked about the room with heavy footsteps, on her mind, a heavy thought of the future ahead of her. She wasn't sure she wanted that kind of future, not yet. Not this decision to lock her away.
She thought of her Uncle Clayton who had requested she take abode with him. She declined respectfully because she wanted to be near her father and mother. Oh how she no wished she had accepted.
She stopped by the fireplace and turned to her mother. Seated in a chair with her back straight, she gave her daughter a look that only further confirmed it was the end of the matter.
