ALEX AND JULIETTE WERE AN ALMOST INSEPARABLE PAIR. Where you saw one go you'd surely find the other. And in this case, they were both bundled up in the comfort of Alex's room playing video games.
Juliette often ate dinner at the Walter home and spent the night, and as far as girls went, Juliette was one of the only ones Katherine was okay with spending the night with her boys. But as far as her knowledge, she doesn't know about all the girls her older son sneaks into the house.
Juliette had been winning against Alex for the past hour. Normally playing video games was an Alex and Kiley thing, but the dark-haired boy had convinced her to play for awhile.
"There's no way you can be this good." Alex laughs, a smile on his face.
Juliette smiles. Her eyes scan over the boy's face. His smile was something that she always wanted to look at. It was like a warm blanket in the cool Colorado air. His smile made her smile and every time he looked at her with those chocolate brown eyes of his and his goofy grin it made her like him that much more.
After awhile she moves to the end of Alex's bed and watches as he plays with Kiley, hearing her voice through the muffle of his headphones. Neither one of them realize when, but Juliette falls asleep with her head in her hands.
Alex bounces up in his chair, elated with victory. "Juliette did you see that—" then he realizes she's asleep and stops the commotion. The boy mumbles a quick goodbye to Kiley and sets his headset down, moving to the bed to maneuver Juliette where she'd be comfortable. He covers her with the blanket on his bed and moves to lay beside her, moving a stray piece of hair from her face. "Goodnight Juli... I love you." He whispers.
Juliette heard it. She woke up just enough to hear the words when Alex had moved her.
But she knew that to them those three words meant two different things.
