"HAVE YOU SIGNED UP FOR a group for english 11?" marie asked as she walked into hers and olivia's dorm. the first day of school had just finished and they were both exhausted. olivia had just woken up from a nap and she was still tired.

"oh not yet, are we supposed to?"

"yeah, professor anderson posted the sign up sheets right after class. you should sign up now, join my group!" marie insisted, plopping onto her bed as olivia quickly made her way over to her desk. "what group did you join?"

"group one". olivia quickly logged into her laptop, clicking on the sign up sheet their professor had emailed to them a few hours ago. she waited rather impatiently as it began to load, the wifi at their dorm wasn't necessarily the best which frankly, was a little annoying. they pay so much every semester, and for what?

after what felt like an eternity, the sign up sheet finally popped up on her screen, and just as she prepared to type her name under group one, she noticed something. the slots were already full. "marie"

"yeah?"

"slots are full"

"oh fuck, i'm sorry"

"no it's fine. i have to branch out, meet new people, you know?" olivia said through gritted teeth, trying to find a group that wasn't full. she knew she shouldn't have taken that nap. "should i join annabelle reynolds' group?"

"bella seems nice. i say go for it. who else is in the group?"

"no one. should i ask her though?"

"nah, just put your name down"

"if you say so". olivia typed her name right under bella's without giving it a second thought. she didn't think too much about it. they were all just college freshmen trying to find their way around anyway. after typing her name down, she turned to face her roommate who was already passed out. it wasn't unusual for marie to fall asleep that quickly, honestly olivia thought it was a talent. who the hell can fall asleep in five seconds?

she got up from her seat and unplugged her phone from its charger, only to see messages from her friends about some cute guy named kevin that caught london's attention, olivia figured she'd just read everything when they were done, she was still a little groggy from her nap.

she spent a couple minutes waking herself up by scrolling through her socials a little, seeing what the rest of her mutuals were up to. some of the people she met in college wasted no time and started partying even though it was the first day of school, not that she cared though, olivia loved a good party every now and then but on the first day of school? ehh, she'd have to think about it.

after which, she started replying to her friends who were rating random people that they've seen in class so far. why? she didn't know. but it was fun, and if anything they were all too nice, no one got anything below an eight. as she was replying to london about this new found crush she had on kevin, a notification from a mutual suddenly caught her eye.

she knew they were mutuals because she was obviously following him, probably from that time everyone taking up journalism was following each other on all their social medias. taking a brief pause from feeding into london's delusions, she decided to open the message.
