               Baozi has a legendary status in China as a traditional food, especially enjoyed during New Year celebrations. Typically consumed as a breakfast dish or snack, the semicircular dough is loaded with a delicious mixture of minced meat and vegetables, steamed to perfection resulting in a soft and appealing texture. Interestingly, various countries have tried to replicate baozi, often giving it different names, such as the Indonesian version known as bakpao, which is commonly found in street stalls and pastry shops.

                In Indonesia, bakpao is a cake similar to baozi, but with a sweet filling consisting of various flavors, such as strawberry jam, chocolate and grape. These delicious buns have become very popular among Indonesians, especially when enjoyed warm on a cloudy day, offering a delicious flavor and experience aroma .


               Aside from being a culinary delight, Baozi has cultural significance in Chinese customs. Not only considered a common food, but as a bringer of good fortune, Chinese people give baozi on various occasions. Newly married couples receive it in hopes of having children soon, while others may share with relatives or friends, expressing hopes of success in exams.


              Furthermore, baozi shows diversity with various names and fillings:


1.) Zhi ma bao, which is famous for its dark filling made from black sesame paste.

2.) Nai huang bao, its identical to its bright yellow filling from egg custard.

3.) Doushabao, this is the commonly baozi found in the world filled with red bean paste.

4.) Big pau, it's a savory pao filled with a chopped pork or chicken.

5.) Tung bao, it has a chewy dough like dumpling filled with chopped crab meat or pork served with its savory broth.

6.) Cha siu bao, has two version, steamed bao or grilled bao. Both of them filled with grilled marinated barbecue sauce cha siu pork.

7.) Xiao long bao, it's a large size dumpling wrapped with thin dough and filled minced pork, shrimp, or crab meat.
