Oscar sighed, glancing at Cassandra and then at Adeline, who was engrossed in her iPad. "I know, Cass, but I don't want to miss out on these precious moments with you and Adeline."
Adeline, sensing the discussion, looked up from her iPad, her eyes wide and curious. "What party, Oscar?"
Cassandra seized the opportunity. "See, even Adeline is curious. You can't disappoint her, can you? Besides, I'm sure Lando and the others will understand if you join them for a bit."
Oscar chuckled, realizing the persuasive force that Adeline possessed. "Alright, alright. I'll go for a little while, but I'm not staying long. I want to be back here with you both."
As Oscar left for the after-party, Cassandra couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment. Adeline, sensing the shift, tugged at Cassandra's sleeve. "Can we play a game, Cass?"
