Death. That is what more and more dragons of Magpie's kingdom was facing. Heck, what the kingdom was facing, it doesn't even have the privilege to have that title anymore. Ever since the Uprising, it seemed thousands, maybe even millions of Scavengers were born daily. There had been petitions, revolts, rage, and Genocide to the Scavengers over the past few years.
Despite Magpie's orders, some dragons, actually, an everlasting, increasing amount of dragons, had been killing off entire villages of Scavengers. They assured there were no victims, no on-seers who got away. Apparently there were only casualties, no witnesses to have not been brutally slaughtered under the claws of the new generation of dragons. But where did this all start? What were the other tribes doing in these times of vengeance?
Dead. All the other tribes were dead. They've been dead for decades now. Only very few from a couple tribes still live, however, they live with the Rainwings now, where the majority of the survivors are. Nearly the whole tribe, including Magpie, whomst pronounced Queen of the Rainwings, (and excess dragons-) ruled after her mother, Hummingbird, had passed due to the paws of the greasy, hairy Scavengers.
The Rainwing hierarchy has changed throughout the generations, including the social status. However, like their deceased ancestors, the Rainwings liked to keep things relatively simple. There were two main social circles - Royalty, including the royal family, advisors, army generals, travelers, etc, and the commoners. They, the farmers, teachers, workers, healers, etc, weren't put down too much by the Queen. It was true, that without the Commoners, the Royal circle wouldn't be nearly as successful. Without them, even more revolt and rebellion would break through throughout the kingdom. In Magpie's eyes, the Commoners were almost as important as the Royal circle.
There were no more major wars between Dragon and Dragon, but rather, Dragon and Scavenger. The little rodents kept on trying to cut down their forests, keep on trying to slay the rest of them. However, nowadays, the Queen rarely sees any slayers. If a Scavenger was seen in their forest, it was a right of the dragons, it was law that they are killed on sight. But, of course, genocide to the Scavengers would only wage more war, like in the past. So, to ensure the safety of what's left of the Dragon tribes, No Unauthorized killings were Prohibited, and if found guilty of such treason, the dragon was to be brought to the head of the Kingdom, the Queen, and she shall see about further punishment.
That was the way things were now. Dangerous to travel, as the Scavengers have grown strong, with weapons of their own. Nothing was simple anymore. The only thing the dragons knew now, was to stay secret, stay hidden, and stay safe.
