Akaashi hates this. He hates how he had to leave his mom, he hates his dad, he hates sitting in the middle seat because on his left, a lady sneezed in his face twice, and on his right, there's an old man who won't stop snoring in his fucking ear. And he especially hates the kid behind him who keeps kicking the back of his seat on the 6-hour plane ride (he also hates the kid's mother who refuses to stop the brat of a child.)

Akaashi didn't understand why he couldn't stay with his mom. Sure, the woman didn't talk to him much and wasn't the nicest (everyone has a temper, you know) but, she kept a roof over their heads and let Akaashi do whatever he wanted (for example, keeping his late-night job.)

But then, his nosey neighbor ruined everything for him, and now he was being shipped off to live with his dad whom he hasn't seen in 10 goddamn years. And better yet, he had to stay with the man's wife and their son who he's never spoken to.

It was going to be awkward, to say the least.

When he landed he practically dashed off the plane, yelling a silent 'fuck you!' to everyone he was sitting near. Akaashi was finally freed from that hell and released to another. He didn't have a problem grabbing his luggage and he didn't have a problem finding his dad, who was standing in the middle of the airport, looking down at his phone worriedly.

Akaashi stood a few feet away from him, actually making sure that was his dad instead of a man who looked like him. (He didn't want to be in that awkward conversation where he mistook this stranger as his long-lost father.)

However, Akaashi recognized him as soon as he saw his calm green eyes. He took in his appearance, noticing how his dark brown hair had started to gray and he had the same type of glasses he had when Akaashi was 6.

His dad must've felt his eyes on him because he looked up, straight at akaashi and smiled brightly at him.

"Keiji!" His dad shouted, pocketing his phone and walking over to him.

"Wow, you've gotten so big!" The man bellowed with a deep laugh. Akaashi almost forgot how loud he was, the complete opposite of his mom.

"I was trying to call you but I couldn't reach you." The man pointed out.

"Uhh, my phone died and I forgot to pack a charger." He lied, but in reality, he kinda threw his phone against a wall and it shattered into a million pieces. He would need to get a job to save up and buy another one.

"Ah, we can stop by a gas station and buy you a new one later?" He suggested and Akaashi nodded dumbly as he let the man lead them out of the airport.

"Sorry it's just me, Carla wanted to come and bring the kids but I know how shy you can be." The man hummed and Akaashi scowled lightly. He still talked like he knew everything about Akaashi. Like he wasn't absent for those 10 years.

"It's fine." He mumbled, deciding he shouldn't blow up on him. He just wanted to get to the house, take a shower to rid himself of the plane stank, and sleep.

They reached his dad's car, which was a shiny gray jeep. He helped put Akaashi's things in the back, both slipped into the vehicle and then pulled out of the parking lot.

The car ride was awkward but Akaashi supposed that it was his fault, considering he gave such short answers to the man's questions.

"So how's school been?"

"Fine."

"Got your driver's license?"

"Yup."

"Uhm, got a girlfriend?"
