Hwan startled awake to the sound of his foster parents arguing once again. He buried his face in his pillow, turning his head slightly to peek at his alarm clock. "Two minutes until I have to get up.." He grumbled inside his head, feeling frustrated. He clicked the button to turn it off before it had the chance to ring and staggered out of bed drowsily. "I really have to stop staying up so late." He thinks to himself once again as he pulls on a graphic t-shirt and a pair of baggy jeans along with his usual worn-out jacket. He crouched in front of his full length mirror to ruffle a hand through his hair in an attempt to style it and patch up the flattened parts which were a result of his slumber.
Hwan then turned to his backpack and shoved his sketchbook, headphones and phone into it before heading out of the room and past all the chaos. Nobody paid him any mind as he slipped on his shoes and walked out of the door and carried on to school. He rubbed his eyes as he walked through the gloomy and foggy streets. He didn't understand why people don't like this type of weather.. there's a strange comfort that it brings.
He reached his bus stop shortly, and sat on a nearby bench to pull out his headphones and phone in an attempt to isolate himself from any social situation. He turned the volume up, feeling a bit more relaxed knowing he'd be away from everything back at home for now. Then, the bus arrived with a screech as it braked and opened his doors.
Hwan stepped up inside the bus and took the first open seat he could find. The boy sat and zipped his phone back up in his backpack as he curled up in the cushioned seat in attempt to get a bit more rest.
Once the bus reached school, Hwan stepped off and headed into the school doors for another long day of wishing he were someone else. Or at least somewhere..better. He entered his homeroom a few minutes early so he could continue reading his stories. Hwan lost himself in the action and words of the book. He admired the writing style.. imagining he were there with the characters instead of his boring old school.
Though. Maybe those dreams weren't so far-fetched after all.
After school, Hwan decided to walk back towards his house with his headphones on high volume. He stared at the ground as he were lost in his thoughts. Hwan suddenly bumped into another person a bit taller than him, sending their messenger bag off their shoulder as they almost fell onto the ground. "Shit--!" Hwan cursed in humiliation as his headphones fell off his head and onto the sidewalk. "I'm so.. so sorry." He crouched down to pick up the person's bag but they snatched it back up defensively.
"It's fine." A deep voice came from the hooded person as they slung the bag back on their shoulders and walked away, leaving Hwan there in confusion. A glint near where the person's bag fell caught Hwan's eyes as he crouched back down to pick up his headphones. He glanced over, seeing it was a keychain of some sort. Extremely beautiful, in fact... It was an opal in the shape of a crescent moon. "Huh..." He mumbled and stood up, shifting it in his hands and looking up to see if he could possibly return it to them.
They were nowhere in sight. Strange.
Hwan just shrugged it off and put the keychain in his pocket in hopes they'd see each other again. He entered his house with a sigh but he was glad to see both foster parents were off at work. He slung his backpack off his shoulders and re-dressed into his baggy pajamas, walking into the kitchen for a snack with the strange keychain in hand, admiring it. He'd never seen such a crystal up close... Hwan wondered if he'd even be able to return it to the person.
He'd have to figure it out tomorrow...
