The next time you open your eyes, you're in the hospital. The sterile smell of disinfectant and the pale glow of the neon lights surround you. Immediately, you sit up and panic; your heart pounds wildly in your chest, and you're breathing heavily. The loud, piercing beeping of a monitor rings in your ears—it sounds like an alarm for your agitated thoughts.
"No... no..." you whisper desperately, holding your head as you tear the cannula out of your arm and try to stand up.At that moment, the doors open with a loud squeak, and several nurses rush in. Their faces are marked by shock as they notice your panic. They stop, their voices sounding soothing, but their words don't reach you. "Y/N, it's okay," you hear a familiar voice—it's the voice of a friend or acquaintance. You turn your head and see a familiar face; you relax slightly, almost imperceptibly. Nevertheless, you scrutinize the doctor and nurses distrustfully.
"Everyone, please leave except Nurse Katharina," the doctor commands firmly. The nurses nod hastily and leave the room, so only he and Katharina remain. Your body relaxes further; the familiar presence gives you a feeling of security. "The veterinarian told me that you collapsed. What happened?" the doctor asks gently, slowly coming closer as he carefully takes your arm. You flinch briefly but don't pull your arm away—it feels like a small step toward normality. "Katharina, please get me a bandage," the doctor says calmly.
The nurse nods and goes to the dressing supplies on the wall. Meanwhile, the doctor disinfects your wound on your arm; the cooling sensation makes you startle slightly, but then he places the bandage over it and sits down at the table opposite your bed. The nurse stands beside him as you begin to talk about the incident—about the cats and the man in the alley. But suddenly, the memory of the injured animals overwhelms you like a wave of fear. You immediately jump up—only to fall backward; thank goodness you land back on the bed.
"I'm fine..." you murmur hastily, grabbing your head again; only now do you notice the bandage wrapped around it. "Where are the cats?" you ask worriedly; your heart beats faster with fear. The doctor smiles reassuringly. "They're fine. They're still at the veterinary clinic." Relief washes over you like a warm ray of sunshine on a cold day; you nod in relief immediately. "Then I want to go to them now!" you say decisively and carefully get up again.
"No, you have to stay here for at least two more days for observation," he explains firmly. "You have a mild concussion."
But you shake your head vehemently; the feeling of captivity overcomes you.
"I won't stay here another hour!" Your gaze hardens, your heart beats faster again—the adrenaline pumps through your veins like an unstoppable stream. The doctor notices your tension and sighs softly.
"Then you must come back tomorrow for a check-up." You nod silently and thank him, while your gaze falls on the gown you're wearing.
"Who changed my clothes?!" you hiss suddenly, indignant; the feeling of vulnerability frightens you. The doctor looks at you reassuringly.
"It's all right. That was Nurse Ursula yesterday. You were unconscious for almost 24 hours." His words slowly sink into your consciousness; it's hard to comprehend."Before you leave the hospital, I want you to drink enough and have a bite to eat!" he says sternly, looking you directly in the eye—his authority is undeniable. You nod obediently; even though your mind rebels against these rules, deep inside you feel the need for care—for both yourself and the cats.

You had practically burst into the veterinary clinic and went straight to the vet, who looked at you surprised. A brief shock flitted across her face before she had to laugh softly. She tilted her head toward the right door, and you silently thanked her with a nod. The vet knew she didn't need to address you now.
