Sam smirked at Dean. "I'm telling you, man. Weird kids."
Dean gave him a look then turned back his attention to the kids. He talked as if reciting a speech. "Alright. Well, in case you're wondering why we're here it's because we've been notified of strange paranormal happenings in this area. Some sort of poltergeist activity. People were thrown around in their homes and found dead. Parts of their bodies, missing. We feel like you might know what's going on."
Jacob considered what he said then looked back at him. "I think I might know what's going on. How am I supposed to trust you, though?"
Sam and Dean looked at each other. Dean looked back at Jacob. "Because we want to kill the asshole who's creating all this chaos."
"If it's what I think it is, then don't kill them, whoever it was."
"Wha—Why the hell not?" Dean asked, exasperated.
"You'll find out soon." Jacob turned to his open front door. What he said next was the freakiest damn thing Dean heard. The boy talked in some rough—demonic?―voice and afterwards, footsteps were heard. Jacob was able to see the hollowgast as it knelt down beside him and let him ruffle its head as it softly purred. Dean, however, was scared shitless, not even seeing what the boy's hands were ruffling.
"You can't see him, but this is Baxterito."
Dean was speechless. "Mr. Jacob, you're gonna have to explain this shit to me because I'm fucking lost."
Jacob did indeed explain to him. He explained about hollowgast and how he's the one of the only peculiars able to see, feel, and control one. "My stomach hurts whenever they're hungry. Right now, my stomach's fine. So there's no need to worry."
"Wait!" Sam said. "So is this 'hollowgast' the reason why all of these paranormal activities were happening in the first place?"
Uh-oh. He paused. "I suppose. Yeah."
Dean stared at the boy, pale and at the same time, growing angry. "You were behind all of this?"
"Uh...maybe."
"It wasn't his fault!" Millard interrupted.
Dean continued staring blankly. "Sam, can we kill him?"
"I'm sorry," Jacob said sheepishly. "They're hard to control."
I swear, I'm about to strangle this kid. He stepped forward, glaring down at Jacob. "'Hard to control' my ass! If they're so hard to control then how come you have one of them as a fucking pet?! I mean—Jesus Christ! Do you even realize how many people were injured and killed?!"
The boy looked about to cry, which made him want to punch him even more. Sam said, "Give the kid a break, Dean. He probably knows more about this 'hollow' stuff than us."
Millard looked at the two brothers. "Sirs? If you only came here to make Jacob feel guilty and cry then you're mistaken. I highly recommend leaving us."
Sam bumped his elbow to Dean's chest and nodded, giving him a stern look: Go on. Apologize. Dean gave a big sigh and looked at Jacob, who was crying softly. "Look, Jake. I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier. You seem like a smart kid, so I realize now that what you did wasn't on purpose. If there's anything you need help with, let us know." He sat beside the boy and planted a hand on his shoulder. Jacob looked back at him, cheeks stained with tears. "You accept my apology?"
The boy sniffled and nodded. "Thanks," he said thickly, then smiled. Jacob quickly embraced him in a hug. He was taken aback by this, but let the situation run its course as he didn't want to ruin such a heartwarming moment. In response, he embraced and ruffled the kid's hair.
