I wake up inside smoldering hot blue Sudan next to my boyfriend on the state highway. I look over the dash board and squint my eyes adjusting to the brightness of the sun blaring through the front windshield. A few stragglers wonder around with their dried and bloody faces looking for their next man-wich. I crawl over to the backseat in search of the box with our supplies and blindly feel around till I find it. Looking inside, we only have a bottle of water and canned spam. Sighing, I gulp as my tongue over laps my cracking lips thinking of 'where will we go for food and water?'. Turning, I gaze down at my boyfriend and see he is drenched in sweat. His mouth dry from the heat of the Californian weather as if he were dehydrated. I leave the bottled water so he may drink it when he awakes and curl up next to him. I gently pull his arm around my waist and snuggle close to him. Staring at him, he looks so peaceful and calm and it reminds me of how thing were normal, when we didn't have to look over our shoulders every second for zombies or thieves, when life was actually worth living for...

He half smiles and stares back into my eyes "Franny, have you been staring at me this whole time?", he questions smirking as he leans in closer kissing the tip of my nose. I sit up blushing "I wasn't looking at you I was just staring out the window...", I sat hiding my red cheeks. Manny stretches while yawning "How long have we been sleeping for?", Manny asks while adjusting his seat upwards. "Maybe a few hours, not long because we pretty much drove most of time at night", I reply while playing with some lose strings from my jeans. "Oh and we are going to need more supplies and fuel Manny", I plainly state checking over my backpack getting ready for our supply run...
