Your Kindness

Rang sleep was disturbed when his sensitive ears picking up a faint sound coming from his apartment, the light footsteps outside of his closed bedroom door. He opened his eyes looking at his dim lighted room that look blurry because he's just waking up.

He remember that he's currently not alone in his apartment as Yu Ri asked him that she will be staying over tonight. At first Rang want to object the girl request but looking at the girl who look slightly scared and disappointment even before she heard his reply enough to soften his heart.

Looking at Yu Ri downcast gaze and nervous demeanor subconsciously hurt his heart.

Rang blinked, eyes looking at his ceiling with empty gaze as his body lay unmoving on his king sized bed. He sighed softly when he saw the shadow behind his door still not go away after few minute.

"Yu Ri" he called, his voice loud enough for the woman keen hearing to pick up and Rang also could hear a startled gasp from the other.

Hearing no response he spoke again, "Yu Ri, just open the door if you want something" few second later, he heard a soft click of his bedroom door opened slowly. Rang eyes looking at the entrance of his bedroom, noting the woman downcast gaze and her slightly trembling hand that holding the doorknob.

Rang rose from his laying position, feeling a little worried. "What's wrong?"

"Lee Rang-nim, I-"

"Yes"

"I- Can I sleep with you tonight?"

"What?" Rang startled hearing Yu Ri request.

"Just tonight, please, I-" she's choked at her words as she couldn't manage to finish her sentence.

Rang who saw the woman in front of him look about to cry and very much distressed letting out a soft breath as he probably could guess what caused this. He softened his eyes and called the other gently, trying to calm the other.

"Come here" he called, Yu Ri look stunned for a moment as her ear still couldn't believe that Rang letting her.

"Yu Ri-ah," she could see a very thin smile on Rang lips, Yu Ri felt like she want to cry looking at Rang gentle expression, feeling warmth that about to burst inside her heart. She always know that Lee Rang is actually a very kind hearted person.

Slowly, Yu Ri approached Rang who still sat on his bed, she saw his pale hand patted the empty space beside him, urging her come and lay on the bed with him. When she finally lay on her side facing Rang, Yu Ri felt the blanket that Rang pull up to cover her that only clad on her silk pajamas.

Rang sighed seeing Yu Ri curled up beside him then he also lay his body back on the bed again, trying to go to sleep as the night still long.

"Lee Rang-nim" Yu Ri quiet voice caught his focus.

"Hm?" Rang hummed with his eyes still closed, letting the other to build a courage to tell him something.

"I-I have nightmare" he hear Yu Ri hesitantly said.

"I saw your death in my dream; you look pale and covered in blood like I was before"

"I can't hear your heartbeat nor can I hear your breath" her voice was soft and she was trembling when she said that.

"I saw the people who hurt me hurt you too, I feel scared because I could only saw you from my cage"

"And I feel powerless as I couldn't do anything" several droplet of tears fall down from her eyelid, her hear replying the leftover of memory from her nightmare.

"Yu Ri," Rang called, he was laying on his side facing the girl in front of him when she started talking, recognizing several emotion that he feel very familiar.

Sadness, despair, helplessness and others he's sure he could named one by one.

"Yu Ri, they will never hurt you again, all those people even didn't have a chance to lay their hand on me" he firmly stated.

"You saw it with your own eyes right, how I killed them with my own hand and ripped them apart in front of you"

"Yu Ri, here" Rang take her hand and place it on top of his chest, letting the girl to feel his beating heart.

Rang quietly studying Yu Ri face in front of him, face shifting from one emotion after another and then settled with relieved expression and small rare smile on her beautiful face.

"Lee Rang-nim" "hm?"

"Thank you"

Rang didn't answer Yu Ri but he still let Yu Ri hand grip his front shirt to hold as she's slowly fall asleep, the smile that still not fade from her face is enough for Rang to know that his intention is clearly conveyed.

As the moon rise higher, the two of them curled up facing each other under the same blanket, unconsciously seeking each other for comfort.

The world was not kind to them but those two broken soul is still living in this world. Marking them as survivor who braves enough to continue living despite the scars that marred their body, confidently facing the world around them as they're still looking for something to soothe and mend their broken heart.
