At the time, Jesley had accidentally leaked out that Lando had broken up with his girlfriend, even though he hadn't been able to handle it himself. This was the decisive point for me at which I would have liked to shoot them on the moon.
Lando nodded and ran his hand through his hair, "Yes, I know, but that's exactly the moment when you can say: Here I am! You know me better than anyone and it's important to McLaren that I feel comfortable, it just confirms that you're the best fit for the job. And your internship at the agency also helps, you already have enough experience. On top of that, no one knows you but my sister" I collapsed, I wanted to do it on my own and Lando knew that. But I was also facing a dead end, of course I had already applied to smaller agencies and also to larger companies, but none near my brother.
I grew up with Formula 1 like Lando, and I was almost as fond of it as he was, but because of the obstacles my parents had put in my way, everything had become quite difficult for me. I felt Lando take my hand, "We can talk about that another time, okay? You arrive today and rest."
As if at the push of a button, a yawn came from my side and we laughed briefly "Your rest of your things will arrive tomorrow. Go to sleep peacefully" I nodded and stood up. "All right, see you later"
I shuffled towards my room "See you tomorrow, sleeping owl" I heard him shout still grinning.
When I went upstairs and came to my room, I immediately closed the door and looked around more closely.
It was completely harmoniously furnished, white with light pastel tones. I ran my fingers over the sideboard to my right and had to grin.
There wasn't a speck of dust on it, definitely not Lando's handwriting. "That lazy sack," I whisper, amused. "Have you hired someone to clean?"
I couldn't blame him, after all, he was rarely here, but the laziness made me grin. I looked at the big door, which probably leads to a balcony.
I tilted my head and went outside with interest. A cool breeze greets me and I looked at the sea. "Beautiful," I breathed. There was a deduction for the road that ran under me, but it doesn't bother me.
My student apartment had a much worse environment, and I had lived there for several years.
I enjoyed the pleasant warmth on my skin for another 10 minutes and then went inside. The bed looked too comfortable not to try it and I lay down in it, less than 2 moments later I was already in the land of dreams.
When I woke up, I looked at the clock, by now it was almost half past two o'clock in the morning. My body screaming for water, I sat up and brushed my hair out of my face. When did I fall asleep? 3 p.m.? Stupid jet lag. I rummaged in my bag for a pair of shorts and a baggy T-shirt.
So that I could continue to sleep comfortably if I could. Searching for the light switch, I found myself half-blind in the hallway. "Ouch," I cursed softly.
I'm sure Lando was already asleep, but my throbbing pinky toe didn't care. I jumped around for a moment until the pain subsided. Taking a deep breath, I went on, and also found a light switch, well, it's possible.
Now that it wasn't quite so dark anymore, the kitchen quickly found you, looking for a bottle of mineral water. Not at all, neither in the fridge, where a considerable amount of soda was piled up, nor in one of the cupboards.
I sighed "oh man Lando...!"
"Can i might help you?"
I froze. "I didn't know Lando had a nocturnal visit" That wasn't Lando. I swallowed, reflexively took the next best thing I could find to use as a weapon and turned to face the person. Nope definitely not Lando. The only thing I could see in the dim hallway light was that he was taller and at that moment his head was tilted. "Me neither" I tried to moisten my mouth, to no avail. Stupid thirst. Lando had to know him, otherwise I couldn't explain why he just stood there and looked at me confused and amused at the same time. The one standing in the doorway turned on the light and looked at me with a smile.
My weapon was still in my hand. a brush for cleaning dishes. Super. It would certainly be well suited for throwing. I looked at the guy in front of me expectantly, his brown hair tousled. My eyes got used to the light and I knew who was standing in front of me. "Carlos?" I laughed. "Ellie?" He smiles: "What are you doing here?" We asked at the same time and hugged each other. "So I live here and you?" He blinked confusedly, "How you live-" "Carlos, what are you doing for so long, you've known each other – Ellie? You're awake" I looked at both of them, confused and a little overwhelmed.
Lando has just stepped up to the kitchenette. "Yes, I'm awake, I think..." I looked back and forth between the two. "Carlos called me around 10 p.m. that he had to land in Monaco because of the exertions of the flight and asked me if I could let him sleep with me"
Carlos nodded "yes my flight had been delayed and then I wouldn't have been able to land in Spain, where I actually wanted to go and I thought we could start working right away" he grinned and tried to tousle Lando's hair, but she was just able to dodge it. I had to grin, those playkids. "What do you mean, working?"
I said, confused. "And Lando, will you please give me some water? I don't think ice tea, just soda" Lando nodded and opened a door, apparently a pantry, where there were water tanks.
I guess I could have noticed that too. Lando handed me a bottle of "Here please" I nodded at him half thankfully, opened the bottle and drank with large gulps, the feeling of being half dried out slowly disappeared. "So what are you doing right now?" The boys looked at each other "are tinkering" I frowned and looked at Lando in disbelief.
"please what" Carlo began to grin and nodded his head and walked out of the room, I followed him confused.
Together with him and Lando we went into a kind of garage and there was a Formula 1 car in it. Was I still asleep?
"What's a Formula 1 car doing in the garage?!" An amused noise from Carlo's side and a grin on Lando's side didn't make it any better. "It's a McLaren project," Carlos said, pointing to the cameras that were set up. "They're not on right now, are they?!" I looked shocked at Lando "Yes, but don't worry, you won't be in the video in the end"
I just nodded, "Okay... and you're both supposed to get the car ready again, or what? To the amusement of your fans?" "Sort of" Carlos replied "Once a month a mechanic comes by, tells us what to do and picks up the video footage" I inspected the car "We don't have to do so much around it anymore, we have half the social media day off" Lando grinned, he hated that day.
Not because of the fans, but because of the many different stops that await him. "Well, that sounds like fun," I said, amused, especially when I saw Lando's dirty hands. Dirt was his kryptonite.
"Well, I wish you a lot of success, I'll try to sleep a little longer." With that, I said goodbye and waved briefly before I went back upstairs. When I got into my bed, I realized that Carlo was here.
He was the only other driver I knew personally, as Lando trusted him. After all, I was banned from Formula 1 at the time.
I immediately removed that thought. After all, that was in the past and that was a good thing.
