"Are you giving me a ride home?" I asked Marlon as everyone left the beach, we both putting away our boards.

"Um, I was thinking of going over to Poppy's, ask your boyfriend, I bet you would have a big big fun time." He said with a stupid smile of his face.

"Fine. But if he says no and I have to walk home and I get kidnapped and die it's all your fault."

"Please, be realistic. Who would want to kidnap you?" He said, and I had to really try to not laugh.

"Plenty of people." I crossed my arms.

"Yep, keep dreaming, celery." He said as he padded by head and made his way to his truck smiling. There was something about his smile. The way it not only showed perfect straight teeth but also made his dark eyes sparkle, it made it impossible not to smile back. I started walking towards Baxter, who was talking to Elo.

"Hi." I said as I reached where he was standing.

"Oh, hey." He said back, and a million little butterflies started flying around my stomach.

"What are you doing today?" I asked, stuttering lightly, as Elo walked over to Wren.

"Nothing much." He said not interested at all. Great. He likes me so much.

"Would you mind giving me a ride to my house? We could get ice cream before that too?" I said, with fear in my voice. "Only if you want." I finished swiftly.

"Uh, I'm actually meeting someone."

"Oh. That's fine." I said, disappointment showing on my face.

"We could get ice cream some other time though."

"Great."

"See you some other time." He said and I smiled lightly as I walked away slowly and put my headphones in, and "Is it over now?" by Taylor Swift was playing. I kneeled down, to grab my bag and my board and I started walking towards the opposite side of the beach, when I finally got to a spot where no one was, I put on my pre surf playlist, and Jet Fuel by Mac Miller started playing. I took off my shorts and my crocheted top, and started warming up. When I was done, I took off my headphones, and set them down, right when the riff of Thunderstruck by AC/DC started playing. I looked around before grabbing my board, and I caught a glance of Baxter and Summer laughing at the distance. Why does he have to be into Summer? Don't get me wrong I really like Summer, but why can't someone look at me? Summer, Poppy, Bodhi, and Wren are going to Byron to a photoshoot for Subtropix, while I'm stuck here with all my friends gone, all because I couldn't make it into the state team. I forced myself out of this trance and scooped up my board and started heading towards the water, wiping away a couple teardrops.
