Unconditional Devotion

Chapter 9

That night I ended up going home because they felt they needed to talk to Goesi about allowing me to come to the Command center. When I got up the next morning Jake met me in the kitchen.

"Hey sis" Jake said walking up to me giving me a hug then followed me to the table "Have you heard from Troy?" Jake placed a plate in front of me. "I have not heard from him this morning. Did you cook me breakfast?" I said looking up at him trying to figure out if he was doing this as a comforting gesture or as a way of telling me he had some bad news. "Well, I didn't really cook the food, but Mom did" he said giving me a smile "She thought you needed to feel special" He sat down across from me at the table then took a sib of his juice. "Where is Mom?" I said pushing the eggs around my plate. "She had a meeting at work, but she told me that if you wanted to stay home from school it would be okay. She thinks you are not feeling good" he gave me a worried look, but I could tell he was also concern look. I thought about it then stood up making my way back up to my room "Jake can you bring me my class work. I think I am going to stay home from school." I said then turn around walking back up the stairs to my room. Jake watched as I walked up the stairs "Addie" Jake said standing in my doorway. I looked up at him "I am going to stay home with you" he walked over then sat down beside me. "Jake you need to go to school. I will be okay" I said trying to give him a smile. He hugged me then leaned back on my bed propping his self-up then gave me his goofy smile. I just shook my head knowing that he was not going anywhere.

*** Back at school ***
"Has anyone talked to Jake or Addison?" Emma said walking up to Gia, Noah, and Troy "They are staying at home. Jake said that Addison was not feeling well." Noah said giving a worried look. "Troy have you talked to Addison or interacted with her?" Gia asked giving him a concerned look. "I have tried to call her, but she has declined the calls" Troy said then looked over at Gia then walked down the hall. "Guys I am worried about Addison and in a way I am worried about Troy." Emma said watching Troy has he walked away. "I know how you feel" Gia said looking over at her friends with a concern look. "Whenever Jake brings Troy up Addison changes the subject. She doesn't want to talk about him or really hear his name." Noah said adjusting his bag.

Troy walked down the hall then pulled his cell phone dial the same number that he has called for the past couple of days. He stood there with his phone at his ear hoping that she would answer the phone, but like the other times it went straight to voice mail. Troy closed his eyes the leaned against the wall. "Troy are you okay?" Noah said placing his hand on Troy's shoulder. "She will not answer my phone calls. When I go by the house I am told that she is either not home or asleep." Troy looked over at Noah then covered his face. "I don't know what to do. I know that I messed up." Noah could tell that Troy was hurting "Have you talked to Jake?" Troy watched as Noah walked over to stand beside him. "I have and he has tried to talk to her, but she told him that she needed time." Troy said running his fingers through his hair then looked up at the ceiling. Noah didn't know what else to tell him because he was a bit on Addison's side, but they are team mates too. They stood there in silence till Gia and Emma managed to find where they were standing. "Troy you ok?" Emma said walking over to Troy placing her hand on his shoulder. Troy just looked at Emma and by that look she could tell he was not okay he was hurting. "Go talk to her she can't ignore you if you are standing there in front of her." Emma said then looked over at Gia and Noah for some help. They didn't get a chance cause the bell rang and they had to get going or they would be late for the next class. The others started to walk toward their next class, but Troy seemed to linger behind them "Troy are you okay" Noah said waiting for him to catch up "Noah I need to talk to Addison. I love her I truly do, and I want her back." Troy said looking at his friend. Noah nodded then but his hand on Troy's back "Jake asked if I would get his and Addison's class assignment. If you want to see her come with me to take them their class assignments and hopefully we can get everything worked out without any trouble from the Argus or even Vekar." Troy smiled at Noah then followed him to their next class.

**Jake & Addison's house later that day**

"Addie" Jake said opening my bedroom door "Are you okay?" I just hugged my pillow laying my head down. I watched as he walked into my room then sat on my bed. "I just talked to Noah, and he is on his way here with our missed class assignments. He also asked me to tell you that if you need him to go over some of the math problems and explain the steps to you he will." Jake rubbed my back, but I could tell he was hidden something "Jake just drop the other shoe already" I said sitting up adjusting my position on the bed. "Troy is coming with him, and he wants to talk to you." I shook my head because I still was not ready to talk to Troy. "Jake I am not ready to talk to him." I said standing up walking over to the closet. "Addison, I don't like seeing you hurt, but I understand the reason he did what he did okay." Jake said walking over to me. "The one thing I want to do is keep you and mom safe." I smiled at him then hugged him. I started to say something, but the doorbell rang, and I decided to go up to my room "Addison come on just talk to him. Please" Jake called as he opened the door. "Hey Guys Thank you Noah" Jake said letting Noah and Troy inside "Where is Addison?" Troy said looking around to see if he could see Addison. "She is in her room, but I don't know if she will talk to you." Jake said crossing his arms. Troy walked over to the stairs then looked up them. "Troy go on up maybe she will talk to you." Troy looked over at Jake "Are you sure?" Troy said looking over at Jake who nods his head. Troy smiled then walked up the stairs then walked slowly towards Addison's room. When he reached her bedroom door he knocked on the door "Come on in Troy" Addison called out. When Troy walked in Addison was sitting on her bed looking at him, but when he got closer to her he watched as she stood up. "Addison I am sorry I hurt you. I thought that if I ended our relationship that it would keep you safe. I guess I didn't think they would sense that you and Jake were related" Troy said walking over to Addison. Addison looked up at Troy with tears rolling down her cheeks. Troy bent down wrapping Addison in his arms bring her into his lap. "It's ok I am here now. I will not leave again." Troy said trying his best to comfort her. After a while Troy managed to calm her down enough to get her to talk to her. "Troy please don't leave me." Addison said looking into his eyes Troy smiled then touched his cheek. "I am not going anywhere." Troy said then leaned down kissing her softly. Addison pulled Troy onto her bed where she wrapped her arms around him. They laid there just being there in each other's arms. When Jake and Noah came up to check on them they walked in on them just lying in the bed asleep holding onto on another. Jake sighed with relief when he saw that Addison had finally fallen asleep. "How long has she been awake?" Noah said looking at Jake. Jake leaned in and closed the door then looked at his friend "She has been up for about 48 hours. I know Troy has not been able to get a lot of sleep because he was worried about her" Jake let out a yawn then sat down on the couch leaning his head against the couch closing his eyes. Noah smiled then placed a cover over his friend. "Get some rest" Noah said then walked toward the front door closing it. As Noah left the house he ran into Jake and Addison's mom, and he let her know about the guest in Addison's room. He reassured her that they were both just asleep and nothing else happened. "She has finally fallen asleep" their mom said with a sigh then walked into the house where she found her son sound asleep on the couch.
