Rubbing her eyes, Leanne slowly sat up, and looked around her room. She got off her bed; walked over to the closet and put on a clean tunic. The tunic was a simple beige, as everyone's tunics were.
"Ah, I should probably go take my medication..." Leanne accidentally said this aloud, as she combed through her short but fluffy brunette hair.
"That's right! You should!" her mother said as she walked down the hall.
The family units in the village has a weird concept, that oddly enough intrigued Leanne. You had to apply for a spouse first, then Leader would set you with another suitable applicant. After that, you have to be married for 2 years before you may apply for a child.
Men and women cannot under any circumstances interact, exceptions include: marriage; work; or school.
Most important rule, always take your daily pill.
This was just the rules. No one ever questions, and everyone follows them.
After Leanne got downstairs, she took the daily-required pill, and then grabbed some of the food her father had prepared.
"Thank you Papa, I appreciate the food immensely."
"Haha, you are welcome, Lea-Bea."
Leanne just rolled her eyes at being called her nickname, and made sure everything was ready so she could take off for the day. She then headed outside to her bike, ready to pedal to school.In the distance, a familiar face could be seen... "Martha! Good morning my dear friend! How are you doing?" Leanne chirpped.
With a chuckle in her voice, Martha replied with, "Good morning, esteemed Leanne, I am doing very well, thank you for asking!" The girls chuckled as they made their way to the building of which they study at.
