Prologue

Glass shards stabbed Lilah's hands and feet. Burning rubble fell from the ceiling like hail. Flames swept the whole room. The air was thick with dust and smoke. Which made it hard to breath. That was the only good part about her situation, because it hurt to breathe. Then the thought swept her. Grab the inhaler. She dashed passed charred pillows and burning rubble to what was once her bedroom. She brought it up to her mouth and breathe  in and out. Everything began to slow down, as if time was stopping itself  only for this very moment. Her eyelids drooped down like window shades, and she passed out.
