Although Leah knew Quil didn't mean any harm by what he said, she still had a hard time not thinking about what if it did happen. Her head hurt and no amount of running could help her, but what hurt her more was that she had barely seen Bree that week. She'd avoided the cabin. Her heart ached, she could feet Bree was yearning for her touch too. Feeling conflicted, Leah didn't know who to turn to so she decided to go to the only person she knew who could relate.
"Paul!" Leah called out, her voice sounding heavy.
"Leah? What are you doing here?" he asked, as he looked up, "Are you alright?" Paul added.
"Yeah I'm fine, physically anyway. I just need to ask you about you imprinting on a vampire," Leah struggled to get the words out.
Paul was silent for a moment as James walked out, too absorbed in what he was doing to notice they had a guest.
"Paul, I was wondering about our next trip. Oh Leah! What brings you here?" James asked and Leah scowled.
"She wants to know what it felt like when I imprinted on you," Paul relayed.
"Oh ok, sometimes that feels like it only happened yesterday, but..." James paused, looked at Paul then at Leah then back to Paul. Paul gave James a signal and he knew to leave them two alone. Paul smiled as his mate went inside, he could be considerate at times.
"Leah, obviously you know we have no control over it, but I wasn't happy anymore that you were. At first I resisted, but I just had to play it out as the bond cannot be undone. James and I have grown stronger together. Yes, we do have our issues but that's because both of us are stubborn. You just need to keep doing what you are doing with Bree and you will be fine," Paul advised.
"Thanks Paul and you both do seem happier," Leah admitted, feeling grateful.
"Thanks Leah, see you later at the gathering," Paul said. As she went off, Paul went back inside to James. Paul usually went to hug James, but that very afternoon Paul felt a bit mischievous So he lent in, held James in his arms and kissed him.
"Sorry!"
"What are you sorry for," James asked as he looked deep into Paul's eyes, then he kissed him back.
"I've never noticed this side of you before," Paul uttered.
"Don't get too attached," James snarled.
"Have I ever said how mesmerising your eyes are now,," Paul complimented.
"Well you and the Cullens left me no other option, but I have just about grown used to it," James admitted. Paul quirked a grin.
"Let's go, before we miss Jake's first gathering since his dad died," Paul announced. James walked next to Paul.
When they arrived, they were all sitting in a big circle around the fire. Paul noticed Jake talking before he looked up seeing him with James.
"Leah, glad to see you again. I've missed you," Bree gushes.
"To be honest," Leah began, Bree bowed her head. "I didn't mean it like that. I meant that I missed you too. I felt this ache in my heart. It was calling out your name," Leah explained, looking at Bree through teary eyes. Bree lifted her head and slowly smiled.
"Paul, James! Come sit, there's space next to Bree and Leah," Jake told them, smiling welcomingly and also for what he heard Leah say to Bree.
"Now we are all here, I shall begin. I have gathered us all here tonight to commemorate a great man, father and chief. He had lived through so much and he always knew what advice to give, but I didn't always listen. I will do my best to keep the tribe thriving like he did. I have spoken with Sam already and he has agreed to be my beta, so if I'm unavailable, he can be there," Jake announced. As he finished he noticed Leah sitting with Bree and he smiled.
As Leah walked Bree away from the crowd, she knew a quiet spot, away from the group, for them to hang out and chat. Paul watched them walk away and smiled. Paul looked to James and nodded at the pair, but he just walked away so Paul chased after him.
Leah and Bree were a little nervous about what to say or do next. The gap between them was closing in and they didn't realise until they turned their heads. Their lips touched briefly pulling apart creating a gap between them. Leah stilled, letting the kiss sink in whereas Bree mustered some courage and moved in closer. Quil was playing around with Embry and accidentally bumped into Leah causing the pair to kiss again and fall into each other.
"Quil! Embry! Would you stop acting like children for once!" Leah yelled.
"Sorry Leah!" Quil and Embry called in unison.
They left them alone and moved a little further down the beach where they saw Paul with James. They tried to push Paul into James but Paul counter-attacked and threw Quil into Embry making their lips touch.
