Don't think about how in the not too far off future, Essek will be alone again.

Alone because human lives are so fragile and fleeting.

He'll maintain Caleb’s little cottage alone, but mostly stay inside the permanent demi-plane they built together that their whole family has the ability to access anytime anywhere.

Don't think about Essek alone one night in a study that's quiet aside from the crackling coming from the fireplace as we writes in his spell book.

Don't think about how even though the remaining members of the Nein visit regularly, he still trances alone in the bed he once shared with the man he loves.

But most of all, don't think of Essek almost spilling the ink pot when he hears a curious yet mournful–

"Mrrow?"

Don't think about him looking up in time to barely catch a long absent ball of fur when it launches at him, forcing him to lean back in his seat.

Don't think about the tears that spring to his eyes as the familiar and much missed purring registers in his mind; or how his arms tighten around the cat as he whispers in a thick voice–

"Frumpkin?"
